I have a triple axel trailer that I adjusted the brakes on a couple of weeks ago, first time out after adjusting, blew a wheel cylinder. By keeping the brakes adjusted, it keeps you up to date on other problems that may creep up on you.

We went out of Ludington Saturday, trolled from the mouth of Pere Marquette Lake to the lighthouse north in 20' of water and never marked a fish in 8 miles. The water temp was around 34-38 degrees. I'm assuming that the water is too cold. What is the surface temp. where the guys are fishing in St. Joe and Muskegon? Are we just too early up here? Thanks

Frank, I see you have an electric winch on your trailer, I have been shopping for one, how do you like yours and what would you recommend? -
I have been reading about the lures you guys have been using at St. Joe, I am hoping to go out of Ludington on Friday. Was at Jay's in Clare today and picked up these lures. What do you think? Will they catch anything. Also, any pointers for the first time spring brown and steelhead fisherman?

So I thought I would clean up the teak on my boat since it looks like it hasn't been done in a while, but what is the best way to clean it up and get the grey out if it, and what is the best material to recoat with? Thanks

I sell floorcovering, and I think you could probably make a few bucks on the side as a flooring installer. Did you replace the waterlogged foam? What did you replace it with if you did.

Saginaw Bay Perch/Walleye Q & A.

He was talking about all waters -
I took out all of the upholstered items in the SeaRay that I bought last fall, and gave them to a gal to have redone over the winter. Her prices were very reasonable, and I thought I would show you some of her work. I am really excited to get things put back together. I included a picture to show the before.

Saginaw Bay Perch/Walleye Q & A.

A little off the subject, but I joined the Grand Rapids chapter of the Michigan Steelheaders this week, and they had a fellow from the D.N.R. as the guest speaker, and he informed us that the D.N.R. has not been able to find any cases of VHS in the state over the last year. I thought that was interesting. -

Maybe the D.N.R. will have to start planting herring and alewives:confused: -

Are you going to put the speed control on yours soon? If I end up selling mine, maybe I will have to go to the Cannon Mag10 unit -

BigJon downriggers
anthonyyost replied to anthonyyost's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
I just listed the FishHawk on Ebay, along with the downriggers, both under the downrigger section, under fishing in sporting goods. It may take a little while for them to post, since I just listed them. If you have any problems finding them, let me know. -

I just got the boat out of storage yesterday, and so what happens, 3" of wet snow. The riggers are in the boat, so it may take a day or two to get some pictures. The riggers are the Captains Packs so they have the longer booms, but they are sectional so you can adjust the length. As far as cost, to be honest I would like to buy 4 of the BigJon Brutes so that I can use 20# balls. Given that these downriggers I have for sale are in excellent condition I would like to think that $1600.00 for the set would be fair to me and whoever may buy them. I would prefer to sell as a set, that way I can turn around and order the new riggers, I really do not want to sell one or two at a time. Let me know what you think, thanks, Tony -
I have 4 bigjon electric captains pack I am considering selling. They are all in A1 condition, and if I sold them they would be as a package only. If anyone is interested, let me know. I also have a Fishawk hand held water temp. probe that I will sell, again if anyone is interested, let me know. Thanks, Tony

When I was at the show in Grand Rapids on Sunday I spoke to the Cannon Rep. and he said that Cannon will be coming out with a new unit next year. I not even sure if you can still buy their unit, although I had thought that it was the best way to go. Just not sure if I want to wait until next year to purchase a unit

Do you have a website for the atomic torpedos?
-
I have been thinking of one of these units, and I am gravitating towards the Fishhawk because of not having to use the coated cable. I already have surface temp from the transducer for my fishfinder, and over the ground speed from my GPS. All I really need is down speed and temp. Do you have to use the transducer that comes with the Fishawk or can you set it up to just use the probe for the downrigger functions. It seems a little redundant to have two sets of boat speed and surface temp.

I went to the salmon seminar at the show in Grand Rapids on Sunday, and the two captains were pushing the Fishawk Unit as the only one to have.

I bought a 917C last year and put a navionics chip in it, I also bought the Quadrabeam transducer which is nice. The thing I like about the 700,900 and 1100 series is that there are a lot of add ons you can purchase. This year Hummingbird has teamed up with Sirius and for $249 you can have real time weather radar on one of these units. For $10.00 a month and a $15.00 activation fee (you only pay for the months you use) you can have a little peace of mind when you are 7 miles out.
