  1. My folks live in the Bitely area (actually on Liley lake). Neighbors have pictures of a large cougar that was hit back in the 90s, so we know they HAVE BEEN in the area. the question I think that everyone is trying to figure out is how recently they have been in the area, or whether they are in the area currently. The answer is YES. We've seen them between Byron Center and Zeeland. We had tracks at the cottage near Bitely during construction (within the last 4 years). I'm sure they are here, but not in great numbers.
  2. I'll get to it. Website blocked at work.
  3. Must be on VACA. Hope you are settling down for the week out there. Doesn't sound like you will be traveling anywhere (without a snow mobile) soon.
  4. Where was this taken?
  5. I too run BIG BALLS (15lbers) and have had no issues. Now, I don't run as fast as Mikes Brutes that he got late season, but not everyone can have all the cool gear. I've not had any issues without snubbers.
  6. Good luck hunting where there is no deer. Be sure to bring your CCW and a hand cannon to fend off wolves. I wouldn't be caught dead up there after (or before) dark with less than a 45 in my pocket. The word I am hearing is that locals shoot the wolves and put them in the river (so the tracking beacon keeps moving). That way when the dnr notices that it has stopped they don't come out to your property to look for the dead wolf. When the locals start self regulating the issues, you know there is a problem. Whether the DNR wants to admit it or not.
  7. I think he might be trying to get ot 1000. WOW. Nice work Jay.
  8. I too like my triple trees. They are a great way to stack rods vertically while not taking up space on your gunwall. They (the ones I have are big jon) also let you stagger the angle of your rods so you get less tangles. I have the top one almost vertical, the middle one on a 45 and the bottom one at about 20 degrees. Then I run my dipsey straight out. Keeps everything clean.
  9. AMEN brother. Wolf season here I come.
  10. I've not tried the rifled slugs yet. I had NO idea my shot was that far or I would not have taken it. If you practice that far that is AWESOME. I spined my deer, so I know my shot was lucky. He was walking away. I figured aim high and if you hit him high it's a head shot, if you hit him low it's a spine. Great job Jim. I'm still out in the darn cold this weekend looking for my last deer. Enjoy your warm house.
  11. Nice work Jay and Jim. Wish I could have joined. Should have. I have been in the woods 8 times now without seeing a darn deer. Not even a tail bouncing away. Hopefully the snow this weekend will change that. Good luck on future trips. I will certainly have to join you some time. Never been white fish fishing.
  12. LAKERS DONT SMOKE WELL?????? That is all we do with lakers. It's the only reason to keep those greasy chickens. One thing you might want to try is to not brine them so long (like normal salmon). Since they are greasy they are salty as well and we only brine them for a few hours as opposed to longer with Kings.
  13. Nice work Jim. I did something similar a year ago. Dropped a 6 at 135 yards with by A5-12 gauge, smooth bore with normal slug (not sabot). I called it LUCK. But the meat still tasted great. People still give me **** about it, but I like to think some skill was involved.
  14. No problem. I hadn't a price in mind, but I do know that they aren't doing anyone any good laying around the shop. Anyone else interested, let me know.
  15. You can be assured that if the "government" says they are close, they are already here. They are always behind the game. Just look at their "plan". We know they are passed the barrier and we are going to wait until December to poison the river. GREAT. Wait for the problem to get worse before we plan to do anything about it.
  16. You are just a fishing machine.
  17. I love this concept. If what you are trying is not working, go back to something you know better.
  18. Do you still need swivel bases, or did you pick them up from turfwrench? I also have two, never used. I put on the easy off slide mounts and never installed the swivel bases.
  19. Good meat and no tracking !!! WTG.
  20. NICE WORK Ken. Very impressive as always.
  21. I have got to get in with you guys that fish in November. Are you on a boat with an outboard? I'm to scared to not have mine IO winterized this time of year.
  22. WOWZERS. Very nice fish porn.
  23. WOW, what a great weekend to be on the water. The deer stand sucked. HOT, sweaty, mosquitoes, no deer.
  24. Way to go Jay. WOW 600 plus fish. Do you feed a small village with all that meat?
