  1. So you are saying there will be "point targets" in Holland on Sat...nice.
  2. Tom, perhaps you can help explain a few of the items brought up here like 1. where is your left hand, and 2. what the heck is in that fishes mouth?
  3. Welcome ot he club...the first step is admitting you have a problem.
  4. I have a guy...give me a call. Dropped by 19' Searay on the trailer when an axle support broke going down the road. HUGE scratch in it...$200 looked like factory new.
  5. Way to go guys...I always had fun fishing this in years past....great way to get to know more people on the lake and have some friendly competition. Nice work Dave.
  6. Anyone here know who won?
  7. Salmon that "run" in Holland are just confused. They are trying to find either the Grand River or the Kzoo (Grand Haven or Saugatuck). There will always be fish that come into Holland, but not in the staggering numbers they do in the other main ports. That being said, could be a day or two or could be a little longer. Also, there are typically two staging groups, one runs earlier and the other a little later in the year.
  8. I don't - I stay the heck away from it. Combat fishing is the last kind of fishing I will ever do. My advice - go offshore for some steelhead.
  9. AWESOME...love your reports and the fish porn...thanks as always for sharing.
  10. Nice job in a short amount of time Robert...welcome to the site.
  11. 25# fluoro - I think. Have a spool of it that we use to rerig stuff...that being said, I am not sure how they come rigged from Lakeshore tackle.
  12. I feel your pain on the meat rig breaking off...last week I went to change the meat to freshen it up on a dipsey, put my thumb on the reel, pulled and POP, there goes he entire thing - dipsey and all... Nice job on the weekend and thanks for the detailed report..
  13. Sweeeeeet....love getting the family involved.
  14. Reminds me of one of my favorate DNR jokes: Joe and Bob are out fishing, its a great day for fishing and the fish are biting as fast as you can get you hook in the water. After a few hours of keeping every big fish they get they decide to head in for the day. After loading up their boat a dnr officer asks to check their licenses. Their licenses were valid. Then he asks to check the livewell. Upon looking in the livewell, the officer comes back and says "you guys are 10 fish over your limit, so I am going to have to write you a ticket" Being that it was Joe's truck and boat, he immediately perked up and said "no no no, we are not over our limit, I would never keep more than my limit. These are my pet fish and I take them down to the lake everyday to get some exercise. I let them go I whistle and they come back to me" So the CO says "alright but you are going to have to prove it to me" Then, Joe goes on to take out 10 fish and put them back in the lake. Then the CO says "ok now whistle and bring all those fish back." Then Joe after a little giggle and smirk says "what fish?"
  15. The fish we are catching in Holland all have fish in them...not as much this weekend, but last weekend they were packed - surprised they bit our lures being so full already. This weekend, they had just a few in each - 2 to 4.
  16. I heard 44 pounds, but I've not verified either. 40 lb fish - seriously huge if it's true.
  17. Sherman and Corey K have some good ideas (not that others don't ... what works for some won't work for all)....but I would try to shorten them up significantly. 50' behind our boat is waaaaay long...I typically run them 10-20 ft, and when running stackers/sliders will run them 8-10ft because I don't want to have to catch up to 100' of line, and I think the two lures running close to eachother looks like a school of bait. Anyway, 8-10' - give it a try with spoons - I think you'll like it.
  18. Very nice - great action and some good clean family fun.
  19. Well, we were hoping that NOAA was not right, but they were - bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy fun fun fun fun fun. There were not many boats out on the water, but we managed a few fish. Went to 55 fow and ssw to about 80 (if we made it out to 80). Picked at em until one took a HUGE rip on a wire dipsey set 90 back and I actually got to see my mono backer on my wire dipsey line - I think he had almost 900 feet out...had to chase it down, pulling all the rods (we were about done anyway)...ended up only being a 19lb fish, but it was still a lot of fun. Ben Lubbs (bending rods) joined us and we had a great time getting to know eachother - you are welcomed aboard anytime Ben. We managed 6 for 7 in the slop. 1 - dipsey with a standard on 1.5 set back 120 popped and we thought it was just the waves, but it was a 2-3lb king - white 10" spinnie with a blue/green fly. 2 - Mag blue dolphin spoon a rigger 49down took a nice king 3 - rigger with a ace high big splatterback down 45 - cookie cutter king 4 - 300 copper witha 10" UV green and blue spinnie and green fly - while letting it out all of a sudden started going a little too quick - cookie cutter king 5 - was that the ace high green ladderback plug on 300 copper - darn it I can't remember? 6 - the 19lber that nearly spooked the dipsey 90 back on 1.5 white with green and yellow dots 10" spinnie with yellow fly. 7 - our one miss was on a 100 copper with a lemonberry mag spoon - only on for a short time and no one home when we got there. Only me in the picutre because we just took a quick one to send to a guy that didn't go with us - just to rub it in. As always - Dad was at the wheel and my good friend Ryan was with us.
  20. Used to work - loved listening to it at work in the background while doing other things, but it's been down for a long time.
  21. We're going to need a bigger boat....AWESOME fish.
  22. Thanks Ed - we've witnessed it a little in Holland, but I think our currents are no where near what you experience because of the structure in Ludville. Great story - and GREAT fish....jut curious...this is the second report in a week that said "mono dipseys"...you guys are seriously running mono dipseys - how do you get them to pop? Are you running 50# mono or something?
  23. FYI, you can never have a cooler that is too big...to heavy - maybe - good problem to have if the weight is from fish.
  24. Nice work guys...great week of fishing and thanks for the report.
  25. Always love setting up a new boat - have fun - looks great already.
