  1. Thanks for the trip Mike. I had a blast. It was nice to meet your brother. Couldn't tell he was related to you . . . .
  2. AWESOME. When do we fish? I'm ready for harbor patrol. hahahaha.
  3. NICE, you HAD to post the shaker picture. At least I look good. HAHAHAHA:no:
  4. Very nice numbers. Sounds like I should rethink not going out for a few weeks. Was this a night trip or a morning venture?
  5. Jim, you are killin em. NICE work. I continue to be impressed with the output in June.
  6. You just have to get used to replacing your stingers spoons when the paint comes off. Sure they loose paint, but they also catch fish (otherwise people wouldn't complain about the paint coming off). Catch 22 really. I'm just impressed with the catch, and the techniques. Way to mix it up out there.
  7. I don't know about the use, but I do like hearing the drag screaming on the video.
  8. I agree, riggers. This is how we did it in the old days (look at me talk). I remember when I was young my father catching fish on the riggers with 12 pound test and honey sticks (very light action rod) cranked down until the tips touched the water.
  9. AWESOME report Jim. Very good news to hear this time of year. Way to work it.
  10. Wowzers. That is incredible. A trip not soon forgotten. Glad everyone is ok.
  11. Good to meet you guys up there. Nice work on the feeeeshn
  12. Terry, thanks for the trip. Any time I can fish with my father is special. I appreciate you letting us tag along.
  13. Nice work in JUNE. Good thinking getting out of the way of the rain.
  14. 17 and double cores are CRAZY. Unless you are built like Popey. I can't imagine dragging that stuff in. BUT, it does work. So does Copper, so does full core with dive bombs. You just have to figure out what you want to do and what works for your boat. Last year I would have said go lead, but this year with the super copper I would probably say to go with that at different lengths. Another good hint that people use is to do copper in 50 or 100 foot sections with small swivels in between the lengths. This way you can get a few setups for different times of the year with the same rods and reels.
  15. Nice work Kenny. Did you guys get swamped by all the big boats coming through from Grand Haven? I remember that from last year.
  16. Way to go Scottie. I didn't know you were going to Muskegon. Nice work.
  17. Good thing you got off the water early. That could have been ugly. Nice job on the feeshn.
  18. Very impressive Scott. Running thin fins yet huh? I would not have thought to try that.
  19. I like the 8'6" okuma classic rods. Good action for leadcore. I do run 9' with a little more backbone on full core, but if I had to do it over I think I would probably just get all 8'6" rods. If you are fishing 20+ times a year I would run Convectors, but I know you said keep it cheep. That being said I like the comment about the 452classic okumas. I just don't like the magdas. I know people that have sucess with them, but I am not one. I've stripped gears on big fish. OK, so I could probably work the drag, but my experience is not good so i will stick with what works for me. THAT being said, everyone has something that works for them.
  20. Adjust the speed if all else fails. We caught fish on 3.1 at the ball last weekend and had to slow down (due to a tip from Dirty Dog) to 2.1 this past weekend. Fish are still around, but hanging low (on the bottom). Either that or GO DEEP. The hard part about that in the lower bowl is it means a big gas bill.
  21. Nice adjustment Jim. We too found a slick in 100fow on Sunday. That seemed to be the only place we got decent fish. Weird. Or should I say JUNE. That pretty much sums it up.
  22. Nice work. Always awesome fishing with family. Just wish the JUNE was not here.
  23. That looks TASTY. Very nice work.
  24. A warm welcome to you Brian. Don't have a boat YET. Just waiting to join the party of dumping money into a big blake hole huh. Well, sounds like you are on the way. I too got sick of waiting for my buddy to go and pulled the trigger a few years back. Well, the rest is history and I am now HOOKED. Good luck man.
