  1. NICE LAKER. that may have gone on the wall for me. I'm trying to get one of every kind of salmon/trout, or at least the main 4 or 5.
  2. Thanks for the report Terry. We were out there in that slop, but I really couldn't make it to the radio very often. Thought I might knock my teeth out on the windsheild if I stood up and drove. BUMPY. We didn't even think to throw plugs out. We did take a few on spoons, but only on copper and full core (I think only 3 or 4 of the 16 or so hits we had). NICE WORK.
  3. I'm thinking about deep sea fishing next time out. Save some gas too. VERTICAL jigging.
  4. NICE work. Perches and Salmons. Yummy.
  5. Went out wednesday and as I suspected, one of the flies that I was testing is no longer on the boat. However, the #18 is still on the line on the rigger with the 11" white echip. It caught at least two more BIG fish and they were NOT coming off. Here are some pictures of the fly. This picture turned out like crap, but I was trying to show the big head and roundness of the area for the mono to go through. It lets the fly slide up and down the line very well, protecting it while the fish is on the hook. With most of my flies the first thing I do is throw the hooks out and change to "G" hooks 4/0 and run two, one as a trailer. With these flies, i would not have to change hooks out. I highly recommend this product.
  6. J plugs work for me later in the season (as with most people) but some people will run them all year long. I've run them on core, copper, and downriggers. Riggers is nothing out of the norm. 40' back works for me just fine.
  7. We were running whatever the waves would let us, but it ended up being about 2.5-2.7 at the ball, which is pretty typically for us. We had to throw the sea anchors out to slow down though.
  8. First of all- LESS THAN 1 FT My (%^^*%. It was BUMPY. 2-4 with the occassional 5ft wave. We did pretty well. we went 12 for I don't know. We bounced south toward Holland and ended up in front of spyglass in about 120fow. 65 to 85 on rigger, 300ft of copper and dipseys 150-170back on 1.5. We had a double on the same rigger. One on the flasher fly/one on the slider. Only managed to new one of these as the slider got into the dipsey and PING fish and lure gone. Hard to control the direction of two fish on one line. The biggest 6 fish (in the picture) were all over 11 pounds. 3 of these fish were on a wire dipsey 150-170 back on 1.5 with a 11" green and white (silver tape down the back) glow Echip. I'll try to find the name for you. This was trailed by a yellow fly with double J hooks. It was AWESOME all night. Had two near rookies realling in 12 and 14 pound kings that ripped out 370ft of line. Riggers also worked with 11" white and 11" yellow Echips with that new fly that mike let me use, and a yellow fly on the other. Copper worked with a mag size yellow tail.
  9. AH, I see now from some of your other pictures you posted catching fish. Thanks for the answer.
  10. Nice work guys. Sounds like you had a good time in between the storms.
  11. Since most others said spind doctors, I'll throw my two cents in: 1. Rigger with 11" white pearl Echip and a mirage fly (green and blue) 2. Rigger with 11" mountain dew Echip with any yellow fly 3. Area 51 spoon (especially for after dark) 4. blue or green dolphin 5. Carmel dolphin or lemon ice 6. Craigs Christmas or Freaking Veggie. I know, I kind of cheated with multiple selections, but I wanted to give you options. FYI, thinking you will buy 20 spoons is a laugh. Once you get going you will have 100s.
  12. That is a pretty impressive boat. I've always wanted to ask though. Why do you run a high board on the back of the boat for riggers and such? Seems like it would get in the way for netting and be a pain. Just curious.
  13. I'm going out again tomorrow (Wed) with some non rookies, so I should have time to take pictures as opposed to run the boat. HEHE.
  14. I got to field test a few Mike's Eyeflies and I was relatively impressed. The bodies are well made and withstand a bit. I attribute this to the large opening for fishing line. The skirt can rise up on the line after the fish has hit and save life on the skirt itself. I was able to catch fish on both I tried. I had the *3 UV double blue eye ghost with a single hook and the new #18 green eye hypnotist with a double hook. I LOVE the hooks. Both fish had a hook completely pierce the roof of the mouth, one coming out a nostril the other coming out the eye socket. These fish were NOT coming unbuttoned. I like the sparkly in the skirt on the UV double blue eye ghost. It was pretty eye catching. I did not "glow" the beads, but in a 10 pole spread they caught two of our 6 fish and had addional hits that we were late to (not sure if they hit the fly or the slider honestly). All in all I like the product. I REALLY like the hooks.
  15. That is a GREAT weekend. nice work. HOLY )*()*(&. I've never witnessed that much crap on the lines. WOW.
  16. I actually resolved to cutting my lines on the riggers and stripping the fleas off then retying them. The wire dipseys are a little more challenging.
  17. Nice work Mike. The boys are getting big. I was shocked this spring. We may need to get Hunter a hip belt (not a pink one).
  18. Thank you for the continued good reports Captain.
  19. Way to go. You got another one hooked.
  20. That is an AWESOME day. One hour and that many fish AND perch. Nice decision to quit and get some lake perch. Way to go.
  21. Wrecked em fly. :lol:HAHAHAHA. I bought that one just because I love the joke. Rectum, damn near killed em. Nice work out there.
  22. I think I heard you up in port sheldon when we first went out. Crazy. But I know we did hear some people from Muskegon. Nice job out there.
  23. 22lbs. AWESOME. I've not broken the 20lb barrier yet (this year or last). Can't wait. You are spoiling the newbies. Way to go.
