  1. I thought I was sick, but now I feel like I need a few more copper set ups. This is what I have: 2 - CV30s with 1000' wire for dipseys 2 - CV30s with andi for riggers 2 - CV30s with mono for high lines 1 - 45classic pro with 1 color lead 1 - 45classic pro with 2 color lead 2 - CV45L with 3 colors lead 2 - CV45L with 5 colors lead 2 - CV45L with 10 colors lead 2 - CV55L with 300 copper 16 total. Sounds like I need to add - 150 copper at least and maybe some others.
  2. I was recently on my buddies 16' whaler and there was a HUGE difference in trying to steer with the bags tied to the front cleats as opposed to the side rails/cleat. Just a word of caution. There's really no right or wrong way to fish, and it's all FUN.
  3. I don't mean to slam you, BUT . . . . you owe 12g's on a 16' boat in this economy. Best of luck sir.
  4. I think we saw him in South Haven too. We all looked at that and said - NO WAY. I give him credit for the commitment, but I would not be out on the big water in a kayak in 34 degree water. Go over and you are dead.
  5. I run bags almost every time out. 1. my boat is a little higher off the water because I have an aft cabin. Soooo, the bags keep me in the water and prevent rocking. 2. the bags keep the boat straighter if you get the right. the closer you can get them to the back of the boat without running into your gear the better. Lengthen your front line as much as you can. Also tie them to a mid cleat, not the front cleat. If you tie to the front cleat, you'll pull the front of the boat all over the place. 3. in ROUGH water they can help a great deal with handling. 4. keeps the motor running fast/cleaner and prevents fouling of the plugs.
  6. Great work out there and thank you for sharing the videos.
  7. NICE. Thanks for the fish porn.
  8. Sherman, Please take what I give you with a grain of salt, as I have a single screw with a 8'6" beam. However, I have been on a lot of other twin screw boats. Also, please keep in mind that it DEPENDS on what and where you are fishing. Lakers up north (if you are in a northern port) I would use all the downriggers I could. Fishing down here (Muskegon and south, maybe even ludington and south) I would fish 3 downriggers. One long arm "down the pipe". In other words, down the middle of the boat between the screws. Most guys fish this one DEEP. Two short arms out the sides. You can get them away from the screws if you realy want to by running weigths with fins and angling them out. The three rigger setup is my idea. Quite honestly we catch more fish on dipseys, coppers, cores, and others. If you are going to run 4, I would not be too concerned with the drives. You'll be moving forward when you drop lines and pull them, so the cables will run behind the boat. I'd worry more about tangling down rigger cables with too many riggers off the back. BUT, guys out there run 4+ with no problems, so I am sure you will get a lot of good advice and differing opinions. MAN, I envy you. Setting up a boat from scratch is a TON of fun.
  9. WOW. Nice work guys. MAN, I need my boat back from the shop.
  10. Nice Don. This is a great service. I've not taken the opportunity to have one, but I know it helps.
  11. Nice work Dave. No skunk is a good day.
  12. You do know that lakers are open now? Rules changes this year. Great report. NICE work feeeshn.
  13. NICE. A great day on the water . . . doesn't really matter where you finish. I'd take top 15 any day, especially with that many fish being caught.
  14. Impressive Kevin and crew. Great job on the 5th place. NICE start to the season.
  15. Pretty impressive shake down Nick. Nice Work.
  16. MAX, just so you know . . . we hang 15lb browns on the wall on this side of the lake. they just don't get very big and you rarely see them over here. I'd say you have a good start, and welcome to the site.
  17. Nice work. I would have had a pucker going with all that law enforcement around. Not that I did anything, but it still makes you nervous.
  18. Funny. I never knew there was another bayliner (much like mine) that close. Where do you normally fish out of . . . PS, Holland, GH?
  19. I'll take a few fish in the box for a shakedown trip any day. Nice job.
  20. Thanks for the report. Nice work out there
  21. SWEEEEEET job Paul. Nice limit.
  22. Jimmy, I made this run with Mike on GLF last year. It was a long trip (obviously depends on the waves). I wasn't sure on the distance, but if it is 17 miles, it's close to PS to Muskegon (which is 18miles). Just something to think about.
