  1. The bad news, the boat is up for the season. Sitting in the driveway, kind of clean and winterized and ready to go away in the barn. The good news - had a great day on the water with my dad, a good buddy and a friend of his. We went 11 for about 14 for the day. The classics were working for some reason. we set down in 100ish fow and headed west. Kept catching fish we we couldn't get turned and wandered out to 160 before turning. Came back in to about 110 and started a northwest/southeast troll ( waves pushing or pulling ). The classics that worked: Flounder Pounder on rigger parked at 50 took half (litterally) of our fish. White 11" paddle with green fly went once on rigger at 60. Green ladder back J plug on full core went twice. Modified Blue Dolphin on 300 copper went once. Oscar (the one not classic for us) went once on full core. Missed a rip on a dipsey on 165 with a mixed veggie spinny and a yellow home made fly.
  2. Nice work guys. I'll be sure to give Denny some crap at work this week. We always say - 59lber got away.
  3. Nice weekend Tony. Always fun to fish with Don. Sorry about the late arrival of your guests, man I hate that.
  4. Sweeeeeeet. Nice work, just be safe out there. I'd hate to see a repeat of some of the tragedy from last year.
  5. Very health fish there in that picture. We only found the small ones on Friday night. NICE WORK
  6. Nice work in a little closer Jim. I don't know if you saw my post, but our graph was LIT up in that area, we just could not get them to go for whatever reason.
  7. Nice work Jimmy. Way to pick em apart
  8. Nice work guys. We couldn't keep the DD buttoned either. Great night on the water and great catch.
  9. I don't know what you are waiting for. IT'S EARLY DOE NOW. I was out yesterday checking the trail cam and brought the shotgun just in case. Hoping to sit in woods tomorrow morning. Good luck everyone. Time to fill the freezer.
  10. Great night on the water. As normal NOAA predicted 1-3 and it was FLAT. Gorgeous night on the lake. We trolled a few plugs through the channel on the way out with no hits. So we motored out to 180 and started setting lines. Got 1 on rigger set at 70ish on a white 11" paddle with mirage fly and missed 2 on dipsey with big ring set on 1.5 with a green veggie spinnie and a yellow home made fly. DARN IT. I could not keep them on the dipsey last night. Made it out to 230ish, picking up a few here and there. Came back in to 190 caught a few more. Made it in to 150 and the graph LIT UP. Top 60 ft was FULL of fish, but we couldn't get them to go. What worked: downrigger down 70 with 11" paddle with fly (mirage on one and apple whatever on the other) three times. mixed veg stingray spoon on full core bad tad on full core green veggie spinnie with fly on dipsey 1.5 with mag ring set 160 back something else must have worked, but I can't remember what it was. Ended up going 7 for 9 throwing back one small laker. I want to thank our guest Phil for coming along and taking a look at the boat. Hopefully we did good enough for him to consider a purchase.
  11. VERY nice solo trip. Way to go.
  12. Nice work. We marked a TON of fish, but could not get them to go as well as we would have liked.
  13. I have had the great pleasure to fish the past few years with my dad. It's awesome. I feel for you guys. You gave me goose bumps. I'm glad you've got a little of that old feeling back.
  14. Nice season. Great to feel good about transitioning into hunting. I'm not far behind you.
  15. Great story Bob. I bet that was just an amazing feeling.
  16. Way to go Kenny. Wish we could have done more of them, but the one we did was a riot, and we got to stop by and see a few of the weigh ins. Nice work.
  17. Very nice cooler. Was this Sunday or today?
  18. Everybody likes a good BJ. I will say if you are looking for speed, go with Brutes or Cannon Mag 10s. If you want economy and just don't want to drag stuff up by hand a couple Captains packs or Pro Tournaments are the trick.
  19. It was awesome being out here with you as always. Nice Parrot.
  20. WOW, that temp came shooting up that much. Nice work getting a few to cooperate. Do you guys think that most of them ran in that cold water? I'm seriously considering pulling early and getting ready for deer season.
  21. AWESOME. Nice job Jon. That had me going. Still, I think I would have to put that on the wall.
  22. Thanks for looking. Grady White is a amazing boat. They are built like tanks. I'm sure your be happy with it. Sounds like you found riggers. Get em strapped on, it's combat time.
  23. Or you can just buy a boat already set up and I can show you how to use it. wink wink.
  24. The best advice I can give (not knowing what you are doing) is to take a ride with some of the advanced fisherman on the site. I learned an unbelievable amount of information when I started learning from fellow fisherman. There are several on the site that often look for riders to fill the boat. I suggest you take them up on their offer and pay for gas. OH, and bring donuts. You will learn what you are doing wrong. Many may offer advice, but they won't know what you are doing now that differs from their advice, so they won't know what to change.
  25. 33 LB HOG. Sweeeeeeeet. Nice trip and as always great report.
