I F'ing hate NOAA. I called off the trip today like an idiot believing the 7-10ft waves forecast. I was watching the web cams yesterday and thought better (it was nasty as predicted). Has anyone looked at the cams today? It's darn near flat.
-
Early in the week it was forecasted for Saturday to be an 8mph east wind and 50 and sunny. OBVIOUSLY it changed. I was hoping to get out Saturday too, even had it lined up, but then I saw the marine forecast and stopped planning immediately. If you look at the web cam today, they are pretty nasty.

OMG, that is not even fair. My mouth is watering and probably won't stop for days. I'm not even sure what kind of "porn" to call that. Maybe a new term - smoker porn.

Sounds like you have a need for a larger boat. I have one if you are interested.

If I could afford traxstech I would go that route, but it's a little pricey. I have big Jon tripples, and while I didn't get them from Tony, that would be where I would go today. They are very easy to take on and off and store, and they are very adjustable. Once you get them set where you like them, it's very easy to fall in love with them.

boat project over the winter!

WOW. Did you ever think, a month ago, that you would have that back together? She looks really good Jim. Nice work. -
I have to somewhat appologize. I was under the impression that northwoods was only a web site and not a store front. Thanks for the clarification guys. I still like to keep my business to west michigan because I want to see my local guys stay around. Can't get good advice on how to fish Holland Salmon from the east side. But if northwoods is a good east side shop, I fully support the east side guys using them too, for the same reason. I just wanted to voice my opinion because I REALLY want to make sure our local guys stick around.

I know. That sucks because I always like to see the new gear and I LOVE the show specials (lures that you can only get at the show). Those were always cool, especially if they work and no one else has them.

While I appreciate a good deal as much as the next guy I must caution us as a group to not just shop online to save 5 bucks a reel or a few dollars here and there. We risk putting good local shops out of business. The same shops that provide good service, advice, bait, respooling, etc etc. There are already too few good shops around and we don't need to loose them. Many of the stores have GREAT spring blowout prices to get you set up for the season. I know outdoorsman has a big show, D&R has a big show, and others have great spring pricing and salmon clinics coming up. Personally, I'd wait on ordering anything from online at this point and wait a few weeks for the shows. You'd be surpised how good the deals are (for example Walleye boards for 17.99 the past few years at the D&R show).

Saweeeeet. That's all you need is another boat. What happened to the old one?

You just have to pick the right link (the bb thingie). Great pictures and fish. Looks like fun. -
I'm one of "those guys" that Don is talking about. I'm pretty picky and typically only run a certain set on my boat. Rarely will I run the freebies, UNLESS there is something like Ken is mentioning, where you get a prize for biggest fish on a promotional item (fly or spoon). I kind of like the idea of giving away prize certificates vs predetermined spoons. That way the fisherman has a choice on color, but that kind of takes away from seeing what works during the tournament. Not sure I've helped or not, but just my two cents.

Okuma Classic Pro Glt ????'s

Sorry, someone already PM'd me and they are spoken for. -
That is SICK. What a vessel. I've seen the zeus system before, but not on quads. i thought it was tied into thrusters when I saw it, but I'm not sure. Neat either way.

Matt is dead on here. I actually ran them on another boat this way, just to see if it worked and it did. I will say that you have to be very careful letting out line. Yout have to keep more tension on the line (like a dipsey) so it doesn't fall to fast and get into your inside lines. Personally, I would rather run more core or more copper and dive bombs. BUT they are a great tool if you have limited setups.

Okuma Classic Pro Glt ????'s

Too bad you live so far away. I just picked up a few 10'3" rods with twilly tips on them at teh fishing swap meet. I bought them because they had 30D convectors with wire on them already. Putting the reels on 8'6" blue diamond roller rods. I'll pretty much give the 10' rods away as I already have 10' blue diamond rollers. They are Okuma Classic Pro Mooching rods. Someone want them????? -
Not sure when the salmon spring special is at D&R in Kzoo, but they do the same thing. Always really good deals down there. I always pick up a few walleye board for 17.99 each down there. Great time of year to restock. Can't remember the price on okuma reals, but I do remember getting some GLT copper/leadcore rods for 19.99.

VERY Nice job and thanks for all the porn. OOOOOOOOH that has me wanting to hit the lake. -
There are several posts on this topic on GLF webiste. If you do a search and look for flasher, flies, leader length, etc you'll find some good discussion. Get yourself some 11" white paddles for your riggers and run anything green (fly) behind them. Also get some mountain dew spin doctors with yellow or green flies. Can't go wrong with these especially at certain times of the year. As far as dodger, get some basic 8" silver (trash cans) and run peanuts behind them for lakers. Most guys that run laker programs end up going through a dozen+ a year (because of the zeebs breaking them off).

What the HE&L is going on here? Tony, I thought you bought a boat already. This is a REALLY sweet ride byt the looks of it. Thanks to Bill for ruining the market or selling my boat. I do have the living space below, but this one looks sweeeeeeet for a fishing machine.

VERY Nice ride. That size can get you anywhere.
