  1. Nice work. I would have never guessed spoons this early.
  2. Nice job on the shakedown Grant. Way to get after em.
  3. WOW, from breaking off 8 rods in on a bridge to moderator. Thing of all the places you've been and grown. I remember when Don's ratios were 1 in 8 in Muskegon and now I can't even come close to catching as many fish as he does. Way to go Don. AH, the memories.
  4. All I can figure is that it has got to be a speed thing. MAYBE. Sounds like to tried that though. I've been on trips in South Haven and St Joe that if you didn't have a Red with black lines Brads Thin Fin on your were not catchign fish. I will also say this - we pulled clown J9s, perch J9, orange mini paddle with blue and green peanut fly, orange and white size 9, etc etc on Saturday, but the only lure that caught our one fish was a Red with Black lines Brads thin fin on mono on the inner board. Go figure.
  5. NICE day to be out there. Man it was tough going back to work Monday.
  6. Get yourself some BIG SACKS.
  7. Well, not to talk you out of buying this one, because MINE is for sale also (2651 bayliner with a 305, all rigger up and ready to go), but here is my advice: Bigger engine the better. You only burn fuel when you go out, not when you are trolling. Now that boat could do fine with a 350 or maybe a 305 (but probably a 350). When you troll you the carbs are not open like you are when you run out, so you don't burn that much. The smaller jets take over and you actually do ok. Personally, I would go for the 350. Very proven dependable engines with TONS of spare parts around and tons of guys that know how to work on them. That's just my opinion. Oh, and let me know if you want a bayliner 2651 with electrics, triple trees, fish hawk, HDS 5, etc etc. We went up to a 30'. Sorry, forgot to answer your other question, will she troll down slow enough. With big enough drag bags anything can troll at the right speed. OK, alsmost anything. I don't think it would be a problem, but I'm betting you would have to use big bags.
  8. Great trip for the first one of the year. Way to go.
  9. I couldn't believe it when I heard it Jay. I wish you and Carol all the best and a speedy recovery.
  10. WOW Jeff. I'll cash in my trade a trip this year. :-). Looks like a sweet ride man.
  11. Nice job Jarod. Ya, it did feel like June out there this weekend.
  12. Nice job. We too had our only fish on the same Thin Fin. I probably should have learned from trips in the past and run more of that same lure.
  13. VERY Nice. We did the same thing, but started in St Joe. Looks like we should have pulled off the highway earlier. We only managed 1 small brown.
  14. Great start to the year. Nice work.
  15. Sweeeeeet. Nice work man.
  16. Sweeeet. Not to hi-jack your post, but JAY - GREAT TO HEAR FROM YOU.
  17. Went down for the spring voyage to St Joe. Weather was awesome. Borrowed a buddy's boat and everything worked great. Fishing however, sloooooooow. Fished south of out of chanel in 10-20fow for 3 miles. Picked up and headed to the A frames. Fished south, then north for about 3 miles. Picked up one brown in 15fow on mono with fire tiger thin fin. Picked up shortly after that and dropped just south of the channel figuring we'd give the mud a try - nothing. Skunk out but barely. All in all though it was a safe and enjoyable day on the big pond again and a great start to the season (brown).
  18. Nice work man. We went all the way south and ended up with a measly single fish. Way to stick it out at home.
  19. I wondered about dirty water too. Hoping to get out Saturday, but the fog may be interesting. Thanks for the report.
  20. Used to do just fine there around the bubbler in the spring. However, as of late, more success in the southern ports.
  21. I got mine from Aaron at Lakeshore. I think I'm pulilng 42" for a 26.5' bayliner. The bigger the better. Worst thing that happens if you go a little too big is you burn a very small amount more fuel and keep the plugs in your engine clean. We run bags almost every trip. They help with speed, but also help with steering and reduce roll from waves.
  22. Way to get after em Jeff. I'm sure it was awesome just having the boat under your feet and over water again.
  23. Very nice job and thanks for the pictures. Great looking dinner.
  24. Nice job. ICE??? We have no ice. Be safe out there, but I'm just happy we have open water down here.
  25. Nice work Jim. hmmmmmm browns. Fire up the grill.
