Holland 7/6 pm

Nicely done Mike. Great out there right now. Not sure what to tell you about the curly wire lines. We get it a little too from time to time, but typically only the first few feet. However, what Mike (GLF) said about good swivels is extremely important on wire. -

Very nicely done Kenny. Our ratios were a little better late this week, but we were hauling the mail. I think the fish were moving pretty fast this week and may have been swimming past stuff and missing it a lot. -

Awesome job getting the kids into it. Nice work. -
What can I say, but awesome couple days in Holland. Fishing was crazy good for many people over the holiday week leading into the weekend. 7-5-2012 we started setting lines in 70 fow and the dipseys didn't make it past 120 to 130 and started firing. The riggers fired, the 100, 200, 300 copper fired. Nearly every line on the boat took a wack. We didn't even count the fish until we got to the cleaning station. We left the dock at 5:30 and caught our last fish at 8:30. Decided to pull lines at 9:30 as it was getting hot and the cooler was almost full anyway. Complete moonshine program on our spoons, never changed it. Psycho, Bad tad, flounder pounder, happy meal, etc. They all worked. Also 11" white paddle on the middle rigger and on dipseys was hot. It was great fun with Dad, and a few good buddies I have not seen in a while. Friday am we did pretty much the same thing. Set up in 70 and started wack'n em again. SW to 140 and pretty much took fish the entire way. Same setup as the day before, but we did change the coppers over after sun up. Lemon berry on 100, moldy muffin on 200, green huckleberry on 300, blue huckleberry on the rigger. A buddy from work joined us and I think it was his first trip on the big lake. Spoiled him. It was a riot.

Way to go Dave. Nice of you to do. Karma rocks remember. -
I don't set my boards to releast, but back before I changed my clips they would from time to time. I don't know if this will help, but we used to tie a ball swivel and a green bead 3 feet above the lures just in case the board released. This way the board would not hit the fish off the lure. Not sure if this would help with the diving or not, but it's worth a try.

Sounds like a great weekend on the pond Jimmie. WOW, it sure was nice out there. -
Great video, and thanks for sharing - one question - WHAT ARE YOU DOING throwing fish back into the pond???? I've seen guys do that on the saltwater, but I don't recall seeing it very often on the great lakes. I guess the "small ones" in Ontario are a little bigger than the jacks we get in Michigan.

Nice job. Ya, we had that current in Holland too. At one point we had our stuff going 3.7 down low - but still catching. They wanted it fast this weekend. -

Very nice weekend. Not sure if it was as nice over there, but I don't think I saw a 6" wave this weekend that wasn't created from a boat. It was beautiful. -

Nice work out there. What a nice weekend to be on the water. -
Ya Kevin, I was pretty impressed. While I was there waiting for Vans to find the part I wondered around the store. Found $32 worth of stuff to buy and gave the guy $40 on the way out the door and said, "tell Vans we are on the way". Very nice of them at Drummond to help me out. I've always been impressed with their service.

Well, it was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Planned to go out Friday night and Saturday am. Arrived at the dock Friday afternoon to the boat coming back into the dock after geting fuel and my dad screaming for help. Apparently they broke the shift cable on right engine and only had throttle, no gear. Got it safely back into the dock and started ripping into it to figure out the problem. YEP, shift cable - shredded. Went to Yacht Basin - no part . . . went to Drummond (5:15pm) no parts, but they were AWESOME. The guy called Vans in Grand Rapids for us and they had the part, and they closed at 6:00. Well, we made it from Drummond Marine to Vans in 30 minutes, got the part, got it back to Holland and got the boat back in order by 8:30. Thought about going out, but it had started raining. So ..... Saturday morning we are joined by Jon (In II Deep), my buddy Ryan and of course dad. We did fairly well, with mostly a steelhead bite going on. Fished mostly in 85-120, but did make it out to 190. 3 lakers, 3 steelhead, and one king total. flounder pounder on 300 went twice, rigger with miami dolphin, 1/2 moon frog pattern went, and some other stuff worked, but we changed lures so many times I couldn't tell ya what they were. Oh .... and the rigger came up into the 300 copper and clip - there they BOTH went. If anyone finds the board it's got my name and number on it, probably a oscar on the copper and a mag lemon berry with a mini lemon berry on the stacker. So...... Jon and I are sitting around the dock talking to Donnie and a few others including Chris from Take N Out.... talked ourselves into going out again Saturday night. GREAT trip with Chris, his daughter Beth, her boyfriend CJ, Jon, and Bill from Shock Therapy. We had a riot. CJ brought in a gorgeous 13lb steelhead. I cried as I cut it up and placed it into bags. All in all it was a great weekend even with the losses. Thanks to my wife for putting up with me being gone all weekend. She is the best.
