  1. We run a 2-3" piece of surgical tubing with green beads on each side of it on the main downrigger line. Cut a slit in the tubing about half way through it. We run a number 3 swivel on each end of a 6'ish piece of mono. You then run your swivel for your slider through that small slit in the tubing and run your main line down and then pitch the slider out how ever high above your main you want to run it. The surgical tubing will keep it right there (if it is the right diameter). When a fish hits the slider it runs down the line and hits the release. If a fish hits the main line, the slider will run up the rod and the beads will prevent the surgical tubing from getting stuck in your rod eyelets and just run down the main line. The only disadvantage is that you get the slider stuck in the net with the fish at times. But that is why we have a second net on the boat just in case we can't get the one clear.

Sweeeeet. Those are the kind of fish and stories that get something like that up on the wall. May not be the largest in the lake, but cool experience and big enough. Nice work.
  3. Very glad you made it home safe. Good thing you had auto.
  4. That's just AWESOME. In one hour. Sweeeeeeeet shake down cruise.
  5. Very nice Bob. Sounds like we need to bring the long sleeves and coats back out of storage.
  6. I am on the exact same page as Brian - we'll fish the 333 only more than likely. We might even do it in one day just to save gas the second day if we can get into a few big fish in day one. Sounds to me like this might be the last year that the "big" sponsors participate if things don't change. Too bad, as stated by others, this is the best run tournament in the area as far as electronic score posting, food, accomodations, organization, cause they are supporting, etc. In fact, I'll probably just do what I did last year and drop money in the pot for the cause, but abstain from the competition.
  7. Very nicely done Larry. Way to smack em.
  8. NIce job out there and thanks for the report. Lake flipped over - nice.
  9. First I've seen it. What is that....medical tubing on the outdrive?
  10. Oooooooh bummer on the Iphone. I typically keep my phone on the dash just in case I have to (or by mistake) jump in.
  11. Awesome when you can catch that weight in 60fow or less.
  12. Welcome to the site. I'm sure you will find some people here that can get you back into the swing of things.
  13. Nice job Terry. Interesting on the speed. We seemed like we were going fast to get them to hit on Thursday and Friday. Man, that is awesome when you don't have to change lures.
  14. Very nice. Always awesome breaking in newbies on 300 copper and full cores.
  15. I have a hard time thinking thermocells would work on a moving vessel, but what the heck....give it a try. I am in Mike's camp. I wear long pants (very think nylon wind pants) and a long sleeve UV resistance shirt. The guys laugh at me when leaving the dock....then swear at me when they start getting bit. It's not my first rodeo. Also a good way to prevent sun burn on the back of your legs without spraying too much stinky sun screen on the boat.
  16. Very impressive. It's hard enough to land a tripple with 4 guys on the boat. 2 guys - that's just awesome.
  17. Sweeeeeeet. Very nice end of the holiday week. I too enjoyed the week off with my new company's link to the auto industry. I think I have to plan more trips next year during this week.
  18. Most tournaments say you cannot run them longer than 6 feet. For this reason, that is typically how long we run them, just so we know they work...tournament or not.
  19. Very nice Ed. Love to see those full coolers.
  20. Very nicely done. We had similar ending Friday. number 14 got into two other lines. We figured the cooler was full enough and I really didn't want to re-rig three lines.
  21. Great fish porn and very nicely done out there.
  22. Very nicely done and welcome to the site. Great report and keep em coming.
  23. Very nice Dave. Great to see you at the cleaning station with a full box.
  24. Very nice work out there. It sure was a fun end to the week.
  25. Awesome story and thank God the crew is ok. Thank you for having the humility to share the story and teach us all a good lesson.
