  1. 3 diver rods per side????? You must be crazy. I've never seen anyone run 3 divers a side - not even the pros. Whether it will hold is a matter of torque. The rod holders themselves will be ok, but the base must be solid solid solid if you are even going to try this. I personally recommend getting into some coppers and cores rather than trying to run this many divers. I just think you are asking for wrap ups.
  2. Man that is awesome. VERY cool stuff and thanks for sharing.
  3. Plugs seem to be catching on. Thanks for the report and great job out there.
  4. We had the short strikes going on the rigger lately too. Strange. Lots of practice resetting riggers. Hope you have electrics.
  5. Great job Dennis, and thanks for the information. I'm sure the posting will slow down dramatically as we are coming into a tournament weekend, so I really appreciate you saying how you did.
  6. Great job for a very short trip. I don't even know if I would go if I knew I had to quit that soon. AWESOME commitment on your part to get on some fishes.
  7. I have a berts custom universal mounting bracket (gimbal style). Came on one of our used downriggers and we have no use for it. Darn thing looks brand new. http://www.teclausa.com/bert/products/MF2978.jpg List for 75, will part with for 50 if someone needs it.
  8. Nice looking board there. Way to go.
  9. Well that's fishn. Thanks for the report Mike.
  10. I suggest Morgans copper 45lb super copper. Just my opinion, and others will certainly disagree. When I run copper I want depth fast. I don't play around with 32lb. If you already have full core, you probably want 300 copper to get you down into the 60-80ft range (largely depending on speed and lure type). We started running one side copper and one side core (other than 300 when then fish want it) and the copper far outproduces the core and it is much less work (less to reel in).
  11. 25lb ande and we commonly have rookies put fish across the downrigger cable, or the stainless dipseys with no problems. That stuff is super strong.
  12. Where are you guys coming up with the sponsors for 25K payouts? That is insane. I think our top pro prize on this side of the lake is 10K.
  13. Well, I was stupid and went out during the week to take a buddy from work and a guy from Alabama out (who had never caught a salmon). We got him on some fish, but it was pretty slow. We ended up taking 7 and having 1 or 2 get off, but had a ton of drivebys. 4 of the fish were 15lbs or so, two were 4-5lbs and we had a nice 5 lb steelhead. We fished 150-190fow with 175 being by far the best for marking and catching. Fish were DEEP - 120+ down is where we marked most of them. Riggers down deep with UV blue mango, Chute down deep with paddle and fly. Mag Dipsey 190 out on 1.5 with spinnies and fly - one on meat rig (small fish). 300 copper went with green ladderback J plug ace hi (thanks Don) and full core went with moldy muffin for the steelhead. Lake was awesome - nice change from recent wind. Had 175fow all to ourselves all night.
  14. SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET. Nice work out there.
  15. YEP, it slowed right down last night for some reason. Way to stick with it Ben. Nice to see you at the cleaning station.
  16. We fished yesterday evening. 175fow was the best out of Holland, but the bite has slowed significantly. Fish are deep (120+). Downriggers down deep and dipseys stretched back were working - high lines were pretty dead but did take a bump on 300 and a steelhead on full core.
  17. Pray. Last night we ran a HUGE meat rig out 190 on 1.5 on the dipsey in 190fow. I did this beecause we started getting big fish (15+) on the riggers. So I figured the big boys were hungry. Ended up taking the two smallest fish of the trip - one of which was so small it was smaller than the meat rig paddle and ended up getting off as it was skiing across the waves at the back of the boat.
  18. Great catch. WOW, you even took time to take a picture solo.
  19. Nice job Chuck. I don't run the swr very often - in fact I've not tried it in quite some time because the fish have been coming on standard stuff. BUT, if I do run it I would suggest only one down the chute. With the currents we have you really don't want too much stuff hanging that long down there. Just my opinion.
  20. Never get sick of seeing those Lake O hogs with shoulders on them. Great job and thanks for the reports and pictures.
  21. Well, we fished the steelheaders event on Saturday as it was a catch 12 weigh 12 event and those are the kind we are trying to support. Fishing was awesome, but the waves were a little bumpy. FUNNY - this year we are complaining about 1-3ft waves. Last year we fished in slop all season. Guess we are just getting spoiled. We boxed our 12 and were headed home at about 9:30. two steelhead about 4-5 pounds which came on full core with a moonshine spoon with a single green ladderback on it. the rest were kings ranging from 6-14.5lbs. Our 12 weighed 96lbs and change so we did OK. This paddle color in 11" worked AWESOME. took hits on the chute, changed to meat down the chute and moved it to the corner rigger, took hits there too. http://www.gloutdoors.com/lj5140-000-0773.aspx Dipseys were working all morning at 180 on 1.5 - mag dipseys on wire. 8" spinnies - mixed veg and yellow with green/blue/yellow flies behind them. 300 worked with a UV Blue Mango mag on it. It was a circus right away. First 15 minutes we went 2 for 4 and jumping all over the deck. After that it calmed down but we steadily picked away at them. Oh, we started out in 150fow straight out of Holland and went south to 175. pretty much stayed there the entire morning. Tried to go north for a while, but that SUCKED. did pick up one of our steelhead doing that, but we quickly turned back south and picked up our last 2 fish. Great morning with the team. Felt pretty good about boxing for the tourney and had a great time.
  22. Great job sticking it out in rought weather.
  23. Nice job guys and thanks for supporting the cause of the B4K tourney. I didn't know it was going on this weekend as we were doing the Steelheaders event out of Holland. Guess I wasn't paying attention.
