  1. I like dream weaver swivels size 3. Make sure they have a wide "U" and not a point or "V". The lure action won't work right if you don't have the right shape.
  2. Nice work Don and crew. Great to hear someone catching in less than 200+ fow.
  3. Awesome job and great report. Thanks for clarifying the "mupped" term. Not something we here/use over here in Lake Michigan. Pretty neat technique though.
  4. Ahhh man. Nice work and thanks for sharing the pictures.
  5. Very nice. Not as deep as some people are going, but the riggers were down still. Sounds like the water is still warm.
  6. Nice Job Joe. Sounds like it was a tough weekend to find fish. Great job picking a few out.
  7. August is always a contest of who ties a better knot. Since we use a lot of palomar knots:grin: we always manage to pick up a couple spoons. Thank you for sharing the written rules - here are a few that we find helpful. If you are fishing in June and you ask "do you have long lines out" you are a moron. OF COURSE everyone has long lines out unless they are in a 12ft boat by themselves fishing a couple downriggers only. Just assume everyone is running long lines. Don't try to cut behind boats - it's just plain rude. On the opposide side of the curve - if you are fishing in September in 30 foot of water in front of the channel and you are running long lines - you are a moron and you deserve to loose your gear. If you get pissed at others for running your long lines over while everyone is combat fishing you may want to turn your anger inward and kick your own butt. Please for the love of god don't troll long lines during comabt fishing time. And if you do, don't expect others to exactly get out of your way. Dipseys and downs is a good rule of thumb during bumper boat session. Small boats commonly yeild to bigger boats because they realize that the bigger boats dragging more lines are harder to move around without tangling stuff. To any of you smaller boats that do this I say a HUGE thank you. It makes things so much easier when the boat that is easier to manuver realizes it and decides to play nice (even if they have the right of way). Typically the guys that have the most challenge are those that are fishign solo or maybe with just one other guy and both the driver and passenger are looking at rods, not where they are going. Every once in a while we have to sound the horn to get their attention, but then they typically figure it out. Really you have to be thinking a few steps ahead and watch from a long way off to see where you think people are going. It's not easy that's for sure. We get pushed out of water all the time trying to be nice to other boats (bigger and smaller). While I've played the who tied a stronger not game, I don't like to and we will typically run away from the group of boats and catch a few less fish rather than deal with the stress.
  8. Very nice Jimmy. How did you manage to get the net around two fish without having one jump/swim out? That's awesome.
  9. Way to get some fish in the boat Randy. I wasn't out there this weekend, but sure sounds like cold water was 120-140+ down.
  10. What time is dinner/meeting on Thursday?
  11. Nice job finding some fish Grant. 54 is still not very cold, but I'm sure it's nicer than the water on top and holding some fish.
  12. Very nice weekend. Great job on the fishes.
  13. Nice job Dave. Sounds like a great weekend on the big pond.
  14. Thanks for the report and the information. MAN that water turned back around fast. Great job finding some fish Ben.
  15. Nice job fellas. Way to find the feeeshes.
  16. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families. I know most of us have been out there in questionable weather before and been fortunate to make it home. God must have needed two more fishing buddies.
  17. I would say Gary nailed it. You can bounch around all day dragging lures on the lake but if you are not in the right depth of water (where the fish are) you are just washing your gear. I know because I've had many gear washing days.
  18. Where is weigh in this year? I though the Holland Fish and Game club worked pretty nice last year. Looking forward to another great tournament. With any luck we'll see similar fish as last year - MAN that was crazy.
  19. Sweeet job. Thanks for the report.
  20. Man, I never get sick of watching people catch fish. My boat, a buddies boat, a complete strangers boat. Doesn't matter.... still awesome. Thanks for sharing Kenny
  21. Nice job Buster. WOW, you covered a lot of water.
  22. Great job. Sounds like you should have had more paddles to match the one working. Hate it when that happens.
  23. Jeff nailed it. That's the program. 11" we commonly run pretty long - up to 54" (arms lengthish then tie a knot).
  24. Might be what Don is talking about. We ran 300 coppers (45lb morgans) in 65fow this weekend and while we did manage to drag a laker up, we didn't have zeebs. We were going about 2.7sog, which is where we like it. I like to try to be in 45fow for full cores, 60fow before I even think about 300 coppers.
  25. WOW, that is a lot slower presentation than we used. Either the current picked up or you fish slower. Seemed to work though - nice job on the fish.
