  1. Thanks for the report Dave. Always great reading your stuff. Nice to hear the perch are coming around. We kind of wondered where they were.
  2. Nick, I have three anchors in the garage from upgrading boats and such. All three are the style Jon posted. Two are medium size and one is huge. You have perfect timing. I'm currently cleaning out the garage (spring cleaning came a little late this year) and I'd be happy to get rid of an anchor.
  3. Nice work this season Aaron. I too have started to switch the brain around to hunting. Perhaps one more trip (next weekend) but then it's off to the woods. Glad you had a nice and safe season and got to meet a few more guys from the site. I was fortunate enough to get Jon out this year too.
  4. I don't know what is wrong with some people in that situation. We had a guy on here post another report that he had very helpful and friendly people out in 120-180 getting out of his way when he had fish on - awesome. Why doesn't everyone get it? Just takes one dork playing bumper boats or going sideways to everyone else to ruin it.
  5. Very nice looking feeeshes. Thanks for the report.
  6. WOW. 20 - that's the best I've heard in a number of weeks. Great job showing people from Kansas what Lake Michigan has to offer. Spoiled em.
  7. Nice work and thanks for the report. Looks like the colder water is coming in a little.
  8. Those are some beasts. Man that darkie has some character. Thanks for the pics and great job on the fish.
  9. We are one of those boats at Yacht Basin that watch the idiots at the launch (not all of you that launch, just the idiots). The ones that piss me off more than anything - probably because I think a boat should only be used for fishing - are the power boaters. They show up at prime time and "tune" their engines at the launch while traffic stacks up. MAN - that pisses me off and I'm not even trying to use the launch.
  10. Great job guys. Sometimes it's about the company and the experience. Sounds like a great night to be on the lake.
  11. Nice work TJ. Your job is so unique. I wish I had the time off like you did to fish, but I don't envy the travel. Have fun this winter if I don't see ya.
  12. Nice job and thanks for the report Scott. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm about sick of biting flies.
  13. Convector 30D with a okuma blue diamond 10' roller rod. We lengthened our leaders out to 12' this year adn the 10' rods are a must. Still have to hold them way above your head to get the fish into the net, but it's doable.
  14. Let me know if you need help Dave. I'm kind of "crazy" when it comes to being organized. I learned form someone here. Electricians code for my rods - red, orange, yellow, green, blue Red - one color - orange two color - yellow - three color - green 5 color - blue - full core. I put white tape on my mono lines for coho in the spring. I even went so far as to buy a label maker this year and label my plan 3700 boxes with spoon names. One row for UV blue mango - one spot for mini, one for standard and one for mag..... etc etc. I have the opposite problem you have. Maybe we can form a group - talk about it (over adult beverages) and come to a middle ground.
  15. Tom, I'm stuck in a quandry with hunting as well. Happens every year - your heart starting thinking about being in the woods rather than on the pond. These 50 degree nights coming up later this week will make it even worse. I think we have at least one more trip in us for the big water, but it depends if the weather cooperates a few weekends from now (the weekend before the youth hunt of course).
  16. Hey, at least you fished and caught a few and had some great memories. I recall when 3 fish was an AWESOME trip when we were learning. Sometimes you just have to remember it's the time not just the totals. Great vacation Jon.
  17. Great job Nick. I have not fished Muskegon in a year or so, but I don't miss net dodging. To Jim point - if you know where they are they are great to fish around. Just tricky.
  18. Can't beat batting 1.000. Nice work Chris. Thanks for the report.
  19. Nice job on lazy man hours Dan. Guess we should have slept in too.
  20. Nice season Scotty. Glad the new gear is working out. Nice way to end the summer on laborday weekend. Even though we probably have a few more fishing trips, my mind is nearly in full hunting mode too.
  21. Great way to spend a holiday weekend Ben. Good to see you at the cleaning station and out on the water.
  22. Glad to have you here Dave, sorry about GLA decision. I supported the magazine, but moslty because I wanted to see great lakes fishing (in any form) suceed. I got most of my news/ideas from GLF and I'm very happy to have your expertise here.
  23. Awesome to have you and Dave with us on GLF. Thanks for taking the time to explain. We look forward to many helpful posts.
  24. We had a great couple trips in Holland on Friday night and Saturday morning. Not so much because of the volume of fish, but because of the kind of trips we had. Fished with newbies all weekend. Friday night we got 8, but what was special was that a pair of kids - 15 and 18 years old - got to fish on the big lake for the first time and get into a 16+lb salmon. It was sweeeeeeeet. Dropped lines in 60fow and had decent temp near the bottom - 44 degrees. But we didn't pick up fish for a while heading NW. wind/waves flipped around to the south so we spent much of the night trying to find a good troll direction. N worked best for us. Green metalic froggie mag on 200 copper went three times. Carmel dolphin looking J plug on full core went twice, uv green with red dot spinnie and fly on dipsey 180 back went once, cant remember the others. Saturday morning we thought it was going to be flat as Friday night it calmed down as we were done. THAT WAS NOT TRUE - 3+ foot waves and a the kids were 10 and 12 today for their first trip. One got a little green but was a trooper and didn't chum. Made it out to 160ish and back in to 75. only managed 4 fish, but got to watch a 12 year old pull in a 16lb king on 300 copper for his first big lake fish. It was truly a priviledge.
  25. Thanks for the report Ben. Heading out tonight ( I think ) and tomorrow morning weather depending. I saw the buoy data was a little interesting this week. Yesterday the cool water came in and up and then quickly retreated.
