  4. Well i am kinda new to the waterfowl world. Been on 1 goose hunt and killed 1 mallard. After that i was hooked. I just got a new dog that is getting sent to a school for hunting this summer and i would like to try to hunt him on some ducks this fall. Bout the only thing i have a shotgun (870) waders and a young puppy. My father in law has some duck decoys. No clue as to what shape they are in. What i really need is a starting point. What gear. I know i need calls, waders, camo, decoys. But what brands are good? Are there any classes in the Grand Rapids area that offer how to call birds? Anyone out there willing to help me learn how to set up a spread? How to call/when to call. I dint even care of i get to hunt, just being able to get my dog some action and learn a few things would be awsome. Thanks in advance to anyone who offers to help a guy out.

  8. About 4 of my freinds and i went out smelt fishing at gull lake last night. We got to the lake around 4:00pm and as soon as we got to the smelt grounds a guy hit a double. We got set up and were on smelt by 445. There were in the bottom 10 fow and only getting better. by 8pm the smelt were 1-8' under the ice and you could sight fish them. Halis andglows seemed to be the trick. Between 5 of us we got 308 smelt, i brought home 78. I will be going back out there tomorow night

  10. Fished swan lake tonight for some specs. Found these guys in 23 fow suspended at 14 and schooled up very nicely. 28" st criox 1lb test thread leader no cover fiskas in fire tiger w/ 2 spikes

  12. My buddy and I went out yesterday to a small lake in NW Kent county around 1230 We will call it Lake X Drilled holes in 12-19fow. Found most fish on or near bottom. best colors where orange/white demons size 12 or tiger stripped fiskas tipped with 1 white spike in size 3mm. We used 28" St criox with action spring bobbers with 1lb high vis yellow vicious main line followed up with thread leaders. Fishing was steady until 3:00 then picked up again around 330 with some specs in the school until we had our 50 fish at 4pm. We had 1 tip up out with no flags, this was set in 13 fow 6 feet below the ice. We were the only ones on the ice. Ice was 5" think of clear back ice. It seemed as the day progressed the fish moved from the 19 fow to the 14 fow collum and then schooled up within a 50 foot radius and now for the fish porn

  18. The biggest thing with netting fish in 1 shot... Don't try to net the fish untill u know u can get him in 1 try. If u miss get the away from the fish to stop the hooks from getting caught in the net. If they do get caught stay calm and think about what u need to do boat the fish. Use your head and some of the tips here and u will boat more fish
