  1. We also did ok in the takle Haven tourney Saturday finish right behind you in 7th place. We took 8 fish for 11 hits, 6 kings, 1 laker, 1 steelhead. We started in 105 and worked out to 190. Our best bait was an ace high green squiggles plug. 450 and 400 copper and 130 on the rigger. Wire out 265 with blue fish scale and blue strong fly meat rig took 2 hits. Crazy b spiny with green mirage on a 300 copper took a king. Laker came on bottom with watermelon tin can and glow spin glow with red dots. Steelhead came on down rigger unknown depth due to faulty counter. Moonshine rv blue flounder. Could only take fish on 330 heading. Nice day to be on water, catching fish was a bonus!
  2. Those are Shakespeare wolverine charter choice. A far cry from eagle claw. I had 10 of them before I went talora rout and still wish I had them.
  3. Left the dock around 0530 and done fishing at 1230. Ended up 14 for 21. 7 kings, 4 steelies, 3 coho. Started ini 50 fow straight out. Zig and zag south for a mile and worked out as deep as 100 fow. North and south trolls were better than east west trolls. S.o.g. Was 2.6 to 3.0. What worked? Uv warrior veggie spoons in 200 copper and down riggers down 60 and 65 with free sliders. Later in the day the uv stinger blue dolphin in rigger with free slider took 2 steel. Dypsys were quiet but boxed 1st and biggest fish on the day a 18 lb king. Wire out 90 on a 1 setting. Stinger uv 8 in paddle with big weenie proctologist fly.. Crazy b with green mirage took a few hits on other gypsy 3 setting at 125. King bite best early steelhead bite better late morning. Ask questions or feel free to ask anything. Willing to help anyone out.

  5. 1st reply guy figured that out quick! I just moved to this side in jan. and have 5 guys coming to fish for about a week. Don't have the room in my house, so looking for some lodging for them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Anyone have a good place to stay? Looking within 20 miles. Cabins or vacation rental. Trying to stay away from holiday inns, red roof inn, etc etc... Any leads good or bad would be helpful. Thank you
  7. I talked to guys today going out of sanilac and plan om heading out tomorrow. also launching out of the black river and fishing lakeport the previous 2 weekends.
  8. I have spent quite a bit of time on a 28 albie with twin inboards and as my girlfriend calls me "its an absolute dream boat". if your able to snag one I highly recommend it. Some of the reviews on the 248 have been outstanding. I seen one fishing little sable last year and it looked like a winner in the water to me. Your defiantly getting more boat than a 24.
  9. Thanks for the advice guys, looking fit a few more opinions however.
  10. Looking at relocating to the westside of the state and my 2 options are south haven or st. Joe. I really haven't spent a lot of time at either city or fishing out of these ports, and time will isn't going to allow me to figure this out or see on my own. Any helpful insight from fisherman about what port they like better and why? Also, any insight on the communities and area of each town would be great. Trying to get a few fishermen's perspective as well people that live there. Thanks
  11. yeah go 4.5 miles out of the north gap at 30 to 40 degree heading, troll north from there. cant go wrong, trout will be on the bottom and silver fish will be suspended, 3 to 10 colors of lead using smaller spoons or 150 to 300 ft of copper.
  12. sounds like you've had a pretty expensive week of fishing and not catching. wish i was around if i knew you would been opening up that tight billfold! it sucks being here and listening to everyone fishing. hopefully my turn will come later this summer.
  13. Spring Fling 2011 was cancelled last weekend due to bad weather on saturday and sunday. If you're reffering to the salmon stakes that is april 30th and you can fish out of any port between port huron and port austin I believe. May 7th is the lexington archers and anglers tourney. The can 2 can out of Harbor Beach is May 14th. The Thumb Offshore Challenge is May 28th out of Harbor Beach. The Harbor Beach Pro King tournament is June 4th.

  16. your boat ready to hit the water? why dont you pick me up in davison and goto st. joe and get some coho's

  17. You may seriously want to look into this new design handle by EGO. Talked to a guy who just bought one and he says its slicker than $h*%!!! I know one will go on my boat this year. http://www.egos2slider.com/
  18. Well Grant, little bit of everything. Worked on The Stewart J. Cort for a month to finish up the end of the shipping season last year. Then well in love and moved in with her in Davison. I live right next to the Grab Bag Tackle. I will be fishing the early tourneys on southern lake huron this year and hopefully get back over to ludington to defend our title on Z-1. Actually working on the teak wood from the boat as we speak. I am sure I will be seeing around some more if the ice ever melts and if we have enough water to lauch this year. Al said you were going to launch April 1st? Better have reinforced glass on your boat when you break the ice on your way out!!!
  19. sounds like under the circumstances you did pretty well. I was getting ready to go to erieau a couple of weeks ago, and the night before decided to do a trailer light check. Holy crap is all I have to say. The radio wouldnt work the wondows would go up and down the wipers would go on and off, etc... Weirdest **** I ever seen, it was like we were cursed and not suppose to go, following morning changed all the light bulbs on the trailer and no probelms. Go figure. Now I have a lot of spare trailer lights. You also have to start expecting about every 3rd day its going to be rough on the lake, just that time of year now.
  20. can you run fire line off of slide divers or just mono?
  21. you look better with a hat on! nice fish too, doubt I will do any fishing before I head to Frankfort Thursday night. Talk to you later
  22. Big weenie flys, best rigs best flys, best customer service, buy em up!!!
  23. Harbor Beach has been decent though I havent been out in a week. Last Sunday we took 12 fish, 5 lakers, 5 walleye, and 2 steelhead. The previous trip we hooked into 12 steelies but only caught 6 and and also 3 salmon, 2 of which were pinks and 1 coho. Few guys have taken atlantics and some say kings but I believe it when i see it. This past weekend the wond may have shaken things up but I doubt it ruined the fishing, just will take a few days to relocate them. I been fishing 80-125 f.o.w off of port hope, but I have many good waypoints 3-4 miles north of the harbor in the same depth of water. Water has been clear so its important to get baits away from the boat. I will run 6 boards, 4 dipseys, and 2 downriggers. On the boards 3 colors to 300 copper with stinger spoons and mini streaks. One day its orange and gold, the next its green and silver. Big trout off the bottom with dodgers and spinning glows. Pink and green on both. In the last 3 weeks I have heard a dozen trout caught over 12lbs. Anything else you want to know, just let me know. TD
