  3. Nice job on the fish!!! I had 2 other reports from Michigan City with limit catches with alot of nice kings in the mix!! There was a one day tourny down there and 144lbs won it with 10 fish. There was a 19+ lb king weighed in as well!! They said there was alot of bait and they were big!! Looks like its gonna be a great yr!! Scott
  4. We ended up with 3 nice fish!! Thanks for the call Jay!! It sure was nice out there for a change!! The one on the left in the pic was still full of spawn!! Scott
  5. Yup Friday evening and Sat morning!! Landed 1 eye and a big small mouth on friday in shallow water then on Sat my wife and I fished straight out in 26 fow and went 6 for 8 Scott
  6. Well I had told my one buddy that I would take him on Sunday but after hearing the reports from Saturday things didnt sound to good!! Got home from Au Gres Sat afternoon and switched over the tackle and headed over to St Joe again! Met my other buddy at the launch on Sun. morning but we werent too sure where to start so we came out of the harbor and did some graphing. Didnt see alot but we set up and trolled down to the pump station with no bites!! My nephew was on another boat and I had another friend in another boat so there was 3 of us looking!! Picked up and headed down to the Cook plant and my nephew went south of us and my buddy north of us. Did mark a few but no takers and my nephew called and he had hit a couple so we picked up and went down about another mile and a half. Set back up and trolled for a bit and couldnt get a hit while my nephew and other buddy hit a couple more! WTF !! FINALY we hit our first fish and it was a dandy king about 12lbs, then the cohos started to follow. Ended the day 19 for 28 landing the 1 nice king a big laker and the rest coho keeping our 3 man limit! Best water was 45 to 55 ft and our best baits were disc divers with orange flashers and flies, blue/chrome thin fin, blue/chrome husky jerk and clown #7 shad raps!! Weather was a bit rainy with an off shore wind but it was a great day of fishing again!! Heres a couple of pics, 3 man limit! A few nice hos and a nice king! Scott
  7. I dont really mind, it cleans up pretty easy with a vinyl floor!! Scott
  8. Boy you aint kidding, those coho loose more scales then they have on them!!..LOL!! I got home and hosed out the live well and theres scales every wheres!! Scott
  9. Well we headed over Tuesday night and was all fired up after all the good reports!! Got to the boat launch around 7:00 am on Wed morning and not another boat> , wind was blowing some so we launched and headed out! Got to the lake and she was rolling pretty good, 2-4 footers so we just turned south(down wind) and set up!! Didnt take to long and the **** hit the fan!! Landed a couple of nice hos then one of the planers starts screaming back, then another then one of the small disc divers, triple!! Got the first fish of the triple in and it was a nice ho then the others were still fighting like a biotch!! Finall after about 10 minutes we could see them both, 2 nice kings around 12lbs. Landed both of them and so we decided to pick back up and make another troll down!! By 10:30 we had boated our 20 salomn and tossed back 3 more that we caught while picking lines!! Best baits were orange thin fins and brads in orange with black back, hot fire tiger thin fins and the new color brads which is blue green with chart. belly!! Those were all out on boards 75 to 100 back. Then we were running 2 disc diver with an orange flasher and some custom peanut flie I tied and they were only bacl 17 and 22 ft staright behind the boat!! One fo the kings hit those and that was one hell of a hit!! Heres a pic of our triple! Another pic of our catch back at the hotel!! My buddy and I stayed and fished Thursday morning landing 16 hos and keeping our 10 in an hour and a half of fishing time!! All in all it was and awesome trip and lots of laughs!! 10. Theres more natural reproduction then you think!! We will always have salmon in Lake Michigan waters because of this! I'm glad they are cutting plants back as we have too many salmon in our waters and thats why the fish arent as big as they used to be!! I would rather see a few less fish and more bigger fish!! With that said I bet we are gonna start seeing some bigger fish and I bet the alewives will start to make more of a come back!! Just my $.02 Scott
  11. I would put 6 rods out on the boards with 1oz in-line weights and spinners at difffernt depths and 2 rods out with bottom bouncers with spinners right off the back of the boat!! As for location I would be out where ever the water was stained NOT dirty!! Water clarity is one of the most important thing when walleye fishing!! I dont want gin clear water and I dont want mud either!! Scott
  12. Glad your boys got some fish!! Scott
  13. If you can get some of the Berkley Gulp pan fish bait you wont go wrong!! Scott
  14. Welcome aboard!! I'm new as well. Some good guys and fishermen on this site!! Scott
  15. I didnt know that!! They must not test to often cause some of the mates that i know of probably wouldnt pass the test!! Scott
  16. Nope!! Scott
  17. There are alot of charter captains that have matets!! I only know of a couple that dont but when your running 12 or more rods it makes it alot easier with a mate!! Scott
  18. I rememer the name!! Where do you fish out of ?? Scott
  19. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just read this on John kings website!! 3/11/09 Today, I come to you with a heavy heart with a reprehensible announcement concerning the Port of Manistee, MI. It seems like the Little River Band tribal netters pulled the same crap they did last season by leaving their nets in all winter. In 2008 this led to floating nets, unsafe to navigation & many boats got entangled before they knew it! Then the tribe hired outside contractors to pull the perilous nets. While the offending LRB tribal netters went on their merry way dropping more nets. The worst part of the current situation is a late season net that was set front of Barr Lake, slightly north of Manistee's Orchard Beach State Park. What makes this net so dangerous is ...it was originally set in 40' of water in close and fairly shallow. Early season Brown Trout shoreline trollers should exercise extra care when fishing by keeping a sharp lookout. Reason for the extra care? ...as things stand nobody knows where last season's 2008 trap nets are presently. Click 2008 floating net The CG and other law enforcement agencies will be out next week trying to locate these nets. This clearly shows when our government bestows the rank of super citizen on a select few, respect for laws the rest of us have to abide by gets lost in the shuffle. As soon as more info becomes available to me, you'll be the first to know. I will post any and all news about the nets concerning public safety ASAP. Those LAZY slobs!! I hope they get whats comming to them, but as we all know nothing will happen!! Scott
  20. Thanks for the warm welcome!! Been fishing Manistee for about. mmmm 30 yrs. I'm sure if you have fished Manistee much you've seen the boat, Fish'N Machine!! Its a 27' Tiara!! Scott
