Never tried mono, to braid, to attach the lead core, I have used the willis and used a sail needle to thread the braid it takes a couple of minutes and you can only get about 2 1/2 inches of braid into the core sheath but I have never had one pull apart and I second the 30#. Because braid is super slick the superglue drop is a must. If you use the mono section be careful with superglue on the mono. 1 big advantage of the willis over other knots is the size of the knot itself. The albright can be quite large and can hang in tip top guides. I do use the albright to attach my backer and leader to Copper, however I just have larger diameter tip top guides on the copper Rods.

We left the pier heads at 6:25, ran NW to 90 and started setting lines had 3 riggers set and the short port rigger went off about a 4# Coho on a fishlander green all glow set @64', got the riggers set and had 1 300 copper set and was setting the other copper when the 300 went moonglow flounderpounder, nice steelhead, next was a lake trout 124 down on the rigger green 11" paddle sigs rig blue dolphin fly. All of the hits were fm 100 to 114 FOW. Trolled until noon all the way out to 200 and nothing got back in to 106 and the 4 color went nice 5# king bringing in the 7 color and had a shaker king on it. Ended the day 5 for 5 but nothing like last week. Still a great morning on the water if you dont mind a little cotton wood on your lines.

I run both copper and cores. The copper will get you a lot more depth with the same amount of line, not so much crankin on the copper but it is really heavy and unless the fish is large you dont get much fight until ;you get close to the leader. The full cores let me have a higher set than the copper and then I go to short cores. My coppers are 300 ft of 45#, with 50 ft of 20# fluoro carbon leader.

I second the fogged up windshields. RainX does help, they make a product that reduces the condensation sticking to the glass. I put it on and then I keep a Micro fibre rag handy for the glass inside the cabin.

Nice job Todd. I was in S.Haven Wed PM didn't fish but the reports were that it was slowing down a little. Looks like you had a very good day even if it is slowing for the June lull.

Great going Jim, short night and kept the skunk off the boat, not bad not bad at all.

Penn Reels but you need to run all of the core out if you are going to run inline boards. If not then you can let any length out down the chute. Be sure to clearly mark the color changes so you can get the proper length. My grandpa used to take red and white paint,(laquer) and put small marks on each change of color 1 mark 1 color 2 marks 2 colors and so on the red and white show up well. If you can afford it use as good a quality rod as possible and the reel should have ball bearings and a relative fast retrieve 3.7 to 1 or better. Okuma CL452 for around forty bucks and you can get the okuma classic pro 8'6" rods for around 30 bucks at Bretts Place on the bay on E-bay he has some special combo pricing too. If you would like a lead core set up he has 2 cl452l reels prespooled with 10 colors of lead and 2 7' trolling rods for 150 bucks plus shipping.

I had the experience of seeing the boat turn off my boards at less than 20 yards sry but that is what I experienced. No one large or small boat should be running hard in a fog. The instruments will help you but they are no substitute for common sense.

Nice days work Mike. Nothing better than getting the boys involved. I fished the fog Saturday and it was spooky with small boats going full bore in that mess.

Yesterday I fished early in the fog! Had a great day but had some real concerns about small boat fishermen running on plane in that pea soup. When it is foggy any safe fisherman should have some essential tools and knowledge. First you go slow and have some one looking for other boats, 2nd you need at mnimum a good marine compass, but preferably a good GPS unit, and best if you can afford and have a place to mount it a Radar unit. I had a small 17 or 18 foot boat go by me on full plane and visibility was less than 200 yards, scared the heck out of me when he buzzed my planer board 180 ft fm the boat.
