  1. Good job gettin the youngsters involved Kevin.
  2. WTG Mike, we finished up 2 for 7. Glad your first timer got some fish on a really tough day.
  3. Went to the marina to work on the boat, finally got the name on her and put a new prop on, finished all that at about 6:00 so we head toward the piers, I should have know that we were gonna have a tough night right away, as we passed the city marina a 30' Tiara came out of the basin and nearly took us on the port side. Scared my partner outa his shorts. Ran out to 50' and shut down, there were fish all over the graph so we set em right there. So we trolled SW to 90 and had one release that was never there. turned NW and got out to 120, without a bump. Decided to call it a night and turned toward the piers and at 107' the right short rigger started dancin. Laker about 27". (at least we got the stink off the boat). 1 more release when we hit 95 FOW shaker king on the same rigger. Rigger was set at 60 dn with a white blue ladder back DW Mag glow spoon 60'back. 1 rip on the 7 color when we hit 90' Saw a steelie jumping and it came off. Beautiful evening on the pond but not much success.
  4. I gotta look into the Z boards too. Is there a retailer in the Kalamazoo area that would have them?
  5. I second get the boards, small investment and will save you a lot of grief and increase your catch. I use the orange churchs boards and they work well for me. I set my clickers on and light drags so any strike is heard as well as seen when the board slides back behind the boat. I run as many as 4 boards per side depending on what the fish want.
  6. Amen on thinking out of the box. Luhr jensen made aflutter spoon that was killer behind a hammered chrome 0 dodger back in the 1970's. chartreuse with red dots, really light and it killed em.
  7. No problem Ryan its great to see new fishermen kicking the old guys butts. Congrats again on a great job on a really tough day to fish.
  8. good job for a tough day to be on the pond. I think your laker is actually a brown though.
  9. Its easy to over estimate a King especially when he just kicked your but. Nice job.
  10. I like to run 14# on the riggers in the spring then go to 20# flea flicker for later in the summer when the fleas go nuts.

  16. Nice job for a tough time of the summer.
  17. I have big jons on the boat and the riggers have the standard Walker rod holders. You get what u pay for in rod holders. Like most other equipment cheap will get u by until one breaks then u are out a rod reel line and whatever hardware u are fishing if it is a dipsy and say a flasher fly that adds up to 35 or more depending on what u use. Rod and reel who knows at least 75 to 80 bucks. Check out some of the pricing on rod holders on line u will find some great buys on E-bay and at some of the sponsoring companies here.
  18. What valley are you associated with, i am in the valley of grand rapids anchor lodge 22 f&am.
  19. It was tough Saturday, but worse Sunday. Monday we tried perch but got blown off when the big storm hit. Nice job on the big king Dan. I second the rather have sea fleas than the darned cotton. Takes forever to get any thing with a braid in and clean it up.
