  1. One of those days Kevin, but having your daughter with u makes it all worth it. Nice job!
  2. Flea flicker really works. I have 6 reels spooled with it and use them when the fleas hit us. It isn't very expensive 2500 yards 39.95 at D&R sports in Kalamazoo. I refuse to let the darn fleas ruin my day
  3. Good job Shannon nice brown. Hope u get the other one on again.
  4. 96 TO 115 FOW, my biggest question is where are the 3 and 4 year olds, my partner is going out Saturday and we have talked about starting in close around 45 FOW and working out to 75 FOW but who knows? The 2 year olds are out in thet 90 to 120 FOW and they bite.
  5. Shawn we heard u guys all the way down in St Joe last nite, I couldn't find any of this years run of fish all 2 year olds way to go on the mature Kings.
  6. The only dumb question is the one u dont ask! Yes the rod will bounce hard, and u need to then release the rod and reel like h e double hockey sticks to take up the slack. I use rubber bands for releases and we get alot of rod movement which enables us to get to the rod and catch up with the fish.
  7. We left the slip and gassed up then headed out to 75 FOW and set lines, we ended the evening 5 for 7 with 2 shakers released and 2 nice fish lost at the back of the boat just came unbuttoned, 300'of 45# copper with fishlander silver frog was good on the copper , lemon ice on 10 color lead core took 2 hits and both were shakers, the best was rigger dn 75 with 11" e chip white glow flasher and blue bubble fly, finally put a meat rig dn on the dipsey and it didn't even get a sniff. Speed was 2.6 SOG and the depths were fm 96 to 110 FOW a little north of the piers. Finished the nite with a gorgeous sunset and 5 in the box. Not bad for 2 old guys just gettin around.
  8. A thought about running sliders I do put a speed bead on my main line about 5 ft from the swivel so that the slider doesn't slide down and cause problems with the main line swivel.
  9. I run leaders on riggers when I run Plugs usually a 5 to 6' leader. It enables me to change plug bodies in a hurry. I normally do not run leaders on my main line for spoons, and the. Flasher or paddle is its own leader system. I do like 4' to 5' leaders on the sliders, either fixed or free.
  10. The problem with fluorocarbon is that u must use the Fluoro Carbon Leader material, regular fluorocarbon is brittle and will break if u nick it in any way the Leader is expensive, so I use 20# Big Game.
  11. Good job on the Steel and Silver Kings, nothing more satisfying than bagging a box full and having the whole lake to yourself.
  12. Jim u need to clean and lube them every year, most come with lube and a tool in the box, the directions for cleaning are on the sheet in the box. I use a solvent bath to clean then lube with the lube provided by the mfg, I have about 100 tubes of the stuff so never have had to buy more but u can get it at any tackle store. Most important is change your mono yearly, it ages.
  13. I have fished out of a 14 footer a lot, its a great way to get started just be very aware of weather. Kevin is the small boat guy.
  14. You can learn a lot at this site unlike most the guys here are not afraid to give specific information and the charter captains at this site are most helpful with good information about their trips including depths fished, baits and speeds. Welcome to GLF
  15. Welcome to GLF, there are a bunch of guys here out of PS and they are more than happy to share their experience with u just keep checking the daily reports
  16. I use 30# Power Pro on all my backers, Lead core and CU.
  17. All of them work but I particularly like Carmel Dolphin, NBK, Lemon Ice and Green Dolphin. But this time of year the plug bite is getting going, l like to run a green and chartreuse Silver Horde and a Pearl black ladder back Silver Horde, both produce a lot of big kings.
  18. Nice job Kevin what did u get for a boat? Lets see some pics. Say hi to your dad for me. BTW I have some spawn if u want it.
  19. My friend Keith of Lie a lot charters had a big day out of Ludington, they ran offshore to the 540 ft break and got 19 including 3yr old kings, Steelhead, 2 Coho over 10 lbs and a couple of lakers. He was running meat and spoons, found some fish that were active. Not sure of the GPS numbers but thats what he gave me for info.
  20. Nice Jim. Goodluck in the tournament.
  21. Very Nice fish, what makes it special are the people we fish with.
