  1. It is an old axiom that eventually the gods of fishing will take your stuff.
  2. Gotta love Lake Trout, they croak and crap and make a slimy mess, but they have saved many a day on the Pond. Nice job solo.
  3. Thanks for the great report Larry.
  4. Nice job Larry, and great report. This workin for a livin is killin me, boat is in the water at Brians and full of gas, and I haven't been out for 3 weeks.
  5. St Joe Broadlows is reporting limit catches of nice size in 40 FOW north of the piers using Minnows.
  6. Thanks for the info Tarrey looks like u guys will have a stellar year up there.
  7. What everyone else said keep the rod down level with the water slowly reel the board to the boat and only lift the board up when it is close enough to come cleanly out of the water, remove the board and then fight the fish normally. As for the boards all of them work well. I have Walleye boards and Tx 44's and no problem. However Jon Marvin did make me some stainless steel pins for the boards that are the real deal. No more problems with the Power Pro backer cutting the plastic pins.
  8. Couldn't agree more Jon, My Okuma Rods are great. And My convector reels are as good as it gets. I want to thank you again for the Walley board pins.
  9. Welcome to GLF Jeff. The guys at this site will get u going in the right direction. There a lot of guys fishing out of Holland and Port Sheldon on this site. They are always willing to share info.
  10. Use the St Joseph Ramp off of Anchors Way, great docks and the Parking lot is never too full. Costs $5 bucks to park but it is far safer than the parking at the DNR ramp, and u dont have to fight the shallow water area just off the launch at the DNR ramp. Watch this site for more information on fishing out of St Joe, I will be going Tuesday PM and will post if we get out and do anything. My sources say that u can find fish from 80 FOW out to 250 FOW. The warm water is going to change the game.
  11. Hopefully the lake will lay down and the cold water will keep the baitfish close in and fishing will continue as it was a week ago. Best part is no seafleas yet. Good Job Jimmy.
  12. My CV55's have about 3 years of use on them, and they do have a little bit of a tricky drag issue, but by cleaning them every year and using really light oil I have been able to have very small fish hit the 300 copper and pull drag against the clicker. However u do have to tighten it up befor u start reeling in the board. Loosen the spool nut a little it will help, but be sure not to let the spool get sloppy side to side, that will wear on the spool gear. I actually really like the CV 55 a lot it catches a lot of fish on my boat and never have a problem with them.
  13. Well that just proves that the fish dont stop eating in the rain we just stop fishin for em. REALLY GREAT JOB JIMMY.
  14. Siggs meat rigs are the best, slow down 2.0 or slower, and run all meat. My meat program added 2 fish to our catch last Sunday. But the spoon bite was definitely the thing and smoking fast 2.9 to 3.2 SOG. St Joe was rockin in 40 to 60 FOW 2 Steelhead, 2 Browns and 8 Kings Stingray Blue dolphin neon, was the ticket. Moved out deep late morning and picked up a king and a small lake trout on the meat pattern in 140 FOW.
  15. Welcome to GLF. A little more info as to location and u can get a lot of info.
  16. Well done Terry, not bad on a slow day. The dog days of June seem to be hitting early. When the cotton wood is flyin the fishin is dyin. The Tramp will be fishing St Joe sunday and monday then will probably start lookin at taking a couple of weeks off for blue gills and Perch.
  17. No public stations in St. Joe. Brians Marina has one but it is locked at all times. Must have a key.
  18. For the guys fishing St Joe, I have started a group here u can access under groups, lets get some small tournaments going and have some fun.
  19. Paul We are slipped on the Morrison Island at Brians Marina, I would really suggest that All of the GLF members use the St Joseph launch and park It is protected, and very little chance of vandalism. Costs 5 bucks to park in a nice lot and the launch retrieve docks are really nice. Just take "Anchors Way to the water treatment plant turn left then right at the gate to Brians Marina about 1 block and u come to the lot, pay for parking using cash or credit card and u can buy a season pass not sure how much we only use it twice a year 1time getting in and 1 time getting out, and the launch is really nice and no trouble with shallow water for the launch. It is about 300 yards upstream of the DNR launch across from their parking lot, just cross the river and go down along the shore past all of the shallow water. It does however get shallow if you get too far to the right going down river until you get past the Benton Harbor boat slips that Tackle Haven has.
  20. I have been using a strong bleach and water spray that seems to slow them down. Gonna try that electronic deal that is advertised for hunters. Cant remember what they call it but it has to be better than the dang little critters we had to battle today/.
  21. Late start, due to some crew issues but left the piers and ran a 330 to 70 FOW and started setting lines. We started with 4 riggers 3 dipseys, 2 fullcores and 2 300' 45# copper. Had a mix of spoons and flasher fly combos out. No hits until we hit 160 FOW and then hooked up with a 3# coho on the full core with std size NBK. Made it out to 220 and turned back in managed to get north to the 15's and turned back toward the piers. Steady action in 160 to 180 FOW after we went to an all spoon program, Lemon Ice, Green Dolphin. Tequila sunrise were all good. The best presentations were the 45# Copper with mixed veggies and NBK, took 4 of our 9 fish. We ended up 9 for 11. 1 Fish came on wire dipsey out 130 set on 1.5 NBK, and 1 on a rigger parked at 155. 1 Steelhead, 1 23# laker, 2 coho and 5 kings all 2 year old fish. Not spectacular but a beautiful day on a flat calm lake. PS the flies are ridiculous.
  22. Good job Cliff. Will be out Saturday PM and Sunday AM this working for a living is cutting to my fishing.
