  3. 6:00 AM Thursday at Brians Marina Slip 111, call Mike 269 929 4221. I am not a charter boat, but I do appreciate help with fuel. Bringl your own food and drink lets fish. I will be fishing "Wednesday afternoon, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If u want to try the big lake give me a call.
  4. The St Joe buoy is very accurate, 71 degrees @ 78' and the temp break Sunday was at 91' Dropped to 64 degrees.
  5. Nice job Todd. We could only manage 2 fish Sunday. Same water but didnt have any meat Broadlows was closed when we went by at 5:45. Same water and found the same temps. The two we got were on Dipsy with spoons. Lake Trout on Power Pro High Diver set on 3 out 290 blue dolphin stinger, and the other was a Steelhead on wire diver set on 1 out 250 same spoon. Speeds were 2.5 on the GPS 1.9 to 2.2 down. Marked a ton of fish but they weren't very cooperative.
  6. Paul Thanks for the report, the MC2 will be fishing this Sunday then will be at the boat from Wednesday afternoon thru Sunday of next week give us a call or call me on my cell if you get out. 929 4221. We keep the VHF on channel 68.
  7. Keep trying I have been fishing the big pond since the early 1970's and we still have days that the action is slow. Overall this summer has been fantastic, the Steelhead fishing has really been hot and the Kings are going to be schooling soon on the southern Lake. Keep it up Watch your speed, and be sure there are fish in the water you are fishing. Lake turnover has screwed everyone up this week. So u are not alone on the slow fishing.
  8. How fast r u trolling? If u r trolling below 2 mph u will drag 45# copper in 80 FOW. I usually set lines at around 2.5 mph and then adjust until I find the speed that works. In July we were fishing at around 3.7 to 4.1 mph and killing Steelhead. Only problem we had was keeping them hooked up. If u r letting slack into your copper at any speed it will sink too fast . I haven't gone to 32# just because it is too close to Lead core I use the 45# and like super copper. 200' and 300' have always worked well for us.
  9. Tough about the wheel bearing but really great u made it home without ruining something. Nice job on the fish too.
  10. Nice Job Tom.. Hope to get to Lake O one of these days.
  11. U Pick em, there are usually a lot of fishermen on any Holiday weekend, I guess it depends on where u live and how far u want to drive. I fish St Joe year around and have found that the latter part of August and Early September are really good fishing. Ludington, Manistee, Grand Haven, Muskegon are all good ports. If u fish Southern Lake u can expect to have to run further to find deep water, Northern Lake from Pentwater north deep water is much closer to the beach.
  12. Nice job Kyle I like the information you give on your reports, keep up the good work.
  13. I used to run 24' Angler specialty Hawian outriggers years ago, we used 1 to 2 # lead balls and les davis ball releases tied in line just above a 6 to 8' leader and any bait or flasher u want to run, offshore releases work well to release the main line from the outrigger, and the les davis release drops the weight when the hook is set. It is a lot more effecient to run inline planers than messing with outriggers.
  14. I like the cl30l reels, with 8' okuma dipsy rods and twill tips for my low divers, and the same reels on a 9'6" dipsy rod with twill tip for my hi divers. I have been using these for 3 seasons with 1000' of 30# opti wire for the same reason Kyle gave, smaller diameter. I tried the roller rods and did not like them when the wire jumped a roller, because someone didnt keep the wire tite when stowing rods.
  15. All I can say is OUTSTANDING work for all of u guys. A great cause and a great trip.
  16. Its coming and soon I hope. I have to believe that there are some 2 yr olds out in that 180 to 200 FOW. Nic job on the steel.
  17. Warm water and a full moon does not make for real active fish. Just remember its coming and soon. The Kings I got last weekend were definitely getting close to having mature spawn. I got about 4lbs of really good stuff that will be used for winter fishing. Gonna take this weekend off and hit it hard the last 2 weekends of the month.
  18. Gotta make certain no won falls overboard! Lol nice job jim.
  19. I agree with Ken and with Jim. I have also started using Walker deeper divers, the Luhr Jensen Dipsey Diver they are making now are Junk. They fall apart , they dont get positive set and release. Really disappointing. I have used them for years and bought a couple of new ones this season both fell apart the first time we put them in the water (the weight discs fell off while they were in the water, both came to the surface and tangled with the other dipsey on the same side of the boat.
  20. Nice job on the Eyes Frank, those tasty perch would end up on my table too. I love seeing you guys on the bay getting the fish. Possibly next summer will trailer my buddy's 18footer over for some eyes. Keep on gettin it done.
  21. 45# 300' copper works great u can run it with lead core outside of it, I run from inside out 300' 45# copper -then a 10 color leadcore, then a short core usually 6 to 7 colors. It works well and we never get tangles. The copper gets down to 75 to 85' depending on the speed u run. U can pull anything on it and have it work. I prefer inline boards, walleye board work best for me.
  22. I have been using 20# Ande for years, I use 30# big game for my core and copper leaders, during the sea flea infestation I have a spare set of rigger reels with 20# flea flicker that keep me free of the pesky little buggers. I do check my line after every fish and at the end of each day of fishing for nicks and scrapes, I slide about 10 to 15 feet thru my fingers and if I feel any rough surface I cut it off and re tie my swivel, I still get break offs because of different things happening like pulling thru some trash and haveng garbage slide down the rigger line to the release.
  23. Felt like June ED, I plan of taking the last week of August to fish and hope we get some change that cools the water down, 74 Degrees at the surface 71 degrees at 50 ft. Temp break at 56' and the baitfish were almost non existant. A week ago we had big baitballs in 50 FOW Sunday nothing.
  24. The fishing slowed for us in St Joe Sunday, Set lines in 55 FOW on a SW troll, got all the lines set and hit 69 FOW fullcore with a Stinger Blue Dolphin, 13# King. reset and 4 color fired with same spoon in 90 FOW, 6# Coho, got to 110 FOW and 300 45# copper fired with a Pro King blue dolphin. That was the end of the action, washed baits for an hour changed to some Spinnys and flies slowed dn and still no takers. Finished at Noon with the 3 fish, twin 13# female Kings with both full of spawn, and the coho. Nice Lake but slow fishing for us.
