  1. Todd u can reach the MC2 on channel 66 or 68 when we are out. Plan on hitting the water Sunday AM. See ya out there/\.
  2. Tarrey: The clean water is out past 160, 40 degrees on the surface, we set there and didnt get a bump till we hit the trash at 235. The deepest set we had a hit on was a 6 color.
  3. Surface temp at 200 was 40.5, the thing that was important was we found a trash line even in the big waves and the fish were in that line. Water inside is all stirred up and the fish are definitely not there. Dennis stayed in tight and had nothing. He told us to go deep as our boat is bigger and better in big water than his Islander.
  4. Fished St Joe again today. Left the slip at 7:30 with some good information from Dennis Neidlinger the Pro KIng, ran to 160 and set lines. (Weather forecast was calm to 1 ft with SE wind at 5 knots.) Weather man missed big time. Wnd NW at about 20, ground swell of about 5 ft made going tough. However we managed to go 12 for 13 with 10 fish kept, the catch was 10 coho, 1 Brown and 1 king, we released the last 2 fish we caught as we were bringing lines. the pics show what worked, 4 color 6 color Power Pro 030 dipsy on 2 out 55, and downriggers set at 8 and 12 ft all caught fish and it was not too bad once we got lines set. Best direction was going into the swell and speed about 2.7 on the surface speed
  5. Way to whack em and stack em Jarrod.
  6. We got a late start today and left the piers around 8:30, trolled the mudline and south to the pump station. We were using the typical spring patterns. Body Baits in the top of the water column and flasher fly on the bottom. Really slow out there, We endede up 1 for 1 nice hen steelhead on a Thin Fin Red Coachdog pattern on a 1 color lead core Water temp at the piers was 41. We pulled lines at 10:30 ran to the chalets and found 50 degree water in tight. No fisth at all. CG ran down a small boat that was in the restricted area.
  7. Its the bomb. Several ways to prepare Lake Trout, Try the Fish Boil, It is Awesome.
  8. Now that would be nuts but I think we are talking about rod length not how many divers we run, I personally never run more than 4 divers and then only in flat conditions.
  9. Really high water in the river, all docks at both launches are under about a foot of water. We launched the MC2 and put her in the slip didn't bother to go out after talking to several guys coming in at about 11AM, Wind was blowing 25 and water was dirty top to bottom out as far as 75 feet. 1 guy got a Coho and a lake trout at 100'. Really slow fishing so just put the boat in the slip and will try to get out Tuesday.
  10. It will work fine, been using Okuma 10' Dipsey rods with Twill tips for several years work great, I have yet to have guide problems in at least 4 seasons.
  11. Not sorry the boat is still on the trailer, thanks for the report.
  12. Nice Job Terry. Trying to get the boat in Next week.
  13. St Joe hasn't really kicked off yet but best bet is Brads Thin Fin Red Coachdog, Ted 0000 dodger with Christmas Coho candy fly, Bomber Long A all work, I like to run the small dodger and fly about l7' don on rigger, and about 6'back. Long lines with the Thin Fins and bombers, I run small orange killer spoons on 1 color of leadcore, and u can go from there. Stay in front to see if the Coho are in the dirty water, then u can work south in 12 to 20 FOW all way to the power plant. Best Spots are in front of the A frames and just north of that. Be sure to stay outside the buoys at the plant. Hope to get the boat in next week. But Water is still cold and fishing has been spotty. If you want to launch try the St Joe Park and launch on Anchors Court, or u can take a chance on the DNR launch in Benton Harbor.
  14. I run flea flicker during the months of July and August, I bought a 2500 yard spool at D&R Sports(36.99) a couple of years back and still have some. I keep 4 reels spooled with it specifically for the time when fleas start becoming a problem. I much prefer using Ande 20 for my standard downrigger rods and my flat lines. The biggest problem with flea flicker is that it is not round and it twists badly even with good swivels. But for that time when the fleas are making it almost impossible to reel in your downrigger lines its the answer.
  15. The St Joe Launch and park is located on Morrison Island, on Anchors Way, if coming from Benton Harbor, go across the first Bridge and turn right on the Island exit, go left under the bridge then take a right turn on Anchors way go to the first street left Pier 33 storage area is on the right, go to the first right again and follow to the launch area. There is a 5dollar charge for parking. Coming from St Joe head across the Bridge, and turn right on Anchors way, and follow the rest of the directions.200 Anchors Ct.http://www.goswm.com/go_htm/southwest_michigan_parks/go_htm/parks/parks_pages/park34_sj12.htm# St. Joseph, MI 49085 Check the link above for maps and information.
  16. Ditto that, but be sure you don't over tighten the dive bomb on your backing, they have rather sharp edges and can cut your backer if you get them over tightened, I speak from experience and I am a fast learner. Only happened once when I first started using them about 4 years ago. The nice thing is you can reel in the backer and get the bomb out of the way then fight your fish with out swivels or connectors getting in the way.
  17. The ST Joe Launch and park is the best kept secret on the southern lake. And if you have ever had your vehicle broken into at the DNR site the 5 bucks is a bargain.
  18. Cliff The St Joe launch is ready and docks are in, Its a better launch than the DNR launch, sure u have to pay for parking but it is safer and the launch is a lot more user friendly.
  19. Nice job on the ho's when u leave the St Joe ramp u have to go straight across to the other side of the channel and hug the right side until u get past the Tackle Haven Slips.
  20. Way to pound the Browns Terry.
  21. Yahoo its getting close next week for us too.
  22. Last spring we launched on 3/31 and boated more kings than ho's. We are hoping to get in the water by the end of the first week of April, and Dave if u want to go along the MC2 is always open for another fisherman.
  23. I tie my own, I can match any one's patterns and its fun to catch fish with your own creations. I have a bout 2 dozen of my favorite coho patterns tied up and ready to go. I also have tied up a couple of new UV flies with double hooks and am looking forward to using them for Meat rigs.
  24. Nice job Ed almost Coho time.
  25. I see a couple of boats out of ST JOE using red led strips inside the gunwales of their boats. It doesn't bother your night vision and lets you see what is going on in the back of the boat. Thought I would give it a try this season and see how it works out for early morning and late night fishing.
