actually water pressure itself wont have an affect over somthing like a lure at 100 or even 150 down. 100 foot is actually closer to 3 times every 33 ft is an atmosphere. every atmosphere is 1 times more heavier. Pressure at that depth only really has an affect on air. As you go deeper the air in your tank lungs and wetsuit compress. That is why on a dive to 30 ft you can stay approx 55 min where down to 60 is about thirty. The lungs still require the volumn of air even though the air molecules are compressed. You'll see o some of the shows like on discovery where they tied a foam head to a sub to see the affect of pressure at 40 ft down and greater. Sure it compressed it styrofoam is almost all air. Now if we apply that to the lures we use. metal cant compress as is it a solid with no air to compress. same with most plastics on the market. AS far as weight of water affecting the action of a lure again there is no difference. If there were than it would also affect scuba fins which i can tell you from bounce dives to 140 there is no affect. I got out of there quick not to get bent. I had about 6 min on air and didn't even stay that long with three saftey stops. i regularly dive to 100 ft down on different wrecks around the great lakes. Our fins are made of mixs of plastice and rubbers and there is no compression in fins either. As far as slowing down i think that is mostly to deal with blow back at those depths. I have "trolled" while diving and have seen no difference down to 80 ft trying to get burbot to strike.

i would go a few mile further and save some launch money and go to sterling state park. big launch 10 bucks all year, and quick to the lake cant go wrong. My boat will be moved over and put in brest bay marina last week of may. We stay at sterling state parks campgrounds. plus a fish cleaning station with electric to fillet your fish and not deal with guts at home. If i remember correctly it is about 15 minutes further south of the metro park. I wouldnt support metro parks as they are anti hunting.

the funny thing is we only new each other for about three weeks and two date. I was stunned she said that if you love me. I didnt even know her really let alone love her. and nothing comes between me and my bowhunting. or fishing or scubadiving. edit i never even got a kiss from Trish now that i think of it.

That one is funny even though i have seen it before. I kind of did something similar to that when i was just into college. Dated this girl a couple times. She came over to the house end of september. Now my family is huge into bow hunting. She is sittng there chatting while i am packing my hunting gear as the first of october was a national holiday in my family. She finally realizes that everything i am handling is camo. She asks what is all the for. I reply bow hunting. She say i dont believe in killing animals for sport, if you love me you wont go:eek:. (dad is in the kitchen) My reply are you serious??? her reply if you want to see me again you wont go this weekend. My reply get the F^%$ out of my house. Laughter from dad in the kitchen. Funny i never saw or heard from her again. Honest to God true story. after i broke up with a gf of 5 years a friend set me up with her. He claimed he didn't know she was anti hunting.

Again that is the past and no members of the old company are in charge of the new company, naivco is in charge. They did keep the engineering dept. there is a new board in charge of lowrance. I know it will take time for them to turn it around. But posting stuff pre Navico just isn't helping. If people havn't had experience with dealing with navico then they have no idea what they are talking about any more. If you have experience with navico than it has a bearing on a decision. if you look on lake ontario united and on glangler you are starting to see the positive posts with dealing with Navico since they took the reins and fired twenty people in their customer service department. I know when i was setting up a couple new things that i hadn't messed with on my unit the person on the phone showed me different ways and took the time to make sure i understood what i wanted to do. They would not get off the phone with me till the issues were resloved. I am very impressed with the high def in the hds. I can pick up small schools of bait and be able to distinguish it. I can find lakers buried in the bottom. I am happy with this unit. I can pick up stuff that i would have never seen before. When looking for a wreck for diving, it is amazing the detail. Only thing i want now for it and my wife had a stroke is the down imaging to see the wrecks easier. She claims we dont need it as after we see it on the unit we are diving along its hull in a few minutes anyways. I am going to say when lowrance was having the problems with service and the units i was looking at humminbird. I was told to hold off and wait till navico got a good firm hold of the company. I am gald i listened this unit is amazing.

this is a post of mine from a few months ago: "The stuff you heard about lowrance has been resolved. they were bought out a couple years ago and the old "crew" didn't want change. well change happened, it happens whenever there is a corporate take over, they (the problem matic people) are no longer there and cust service has been great. I have a hds 5 i put on my boat this sping, base map. had an issue. it was past the return time for cabelas. and they were backed up, spring time go figure. the new head of cust service contacted cabelas in dundee for me and got it set up to exchange it in the store so i wasn't without a unit, without me asking for anything special. The new one is the best thing i have ever used and wouldn't recommend anything else. i also upgraded to the lake insight for the better software. I have any other questions and they are there to help in anyway they possibly can. Also there was a thing going around that there was no customer support for the mapping software that was coming form the factory. that issue also resolved. when the takeover happened they were in the middle of relicensing which happens with software. and it took a month or so. i had questioned that before buying mine and there were people that just couldn't understand the when a company is going through relicensing that they are not allowed to distribute a product with that software. anyways they were trying to explain it to customers and people just wouldn't listen and started yelling that there was no customer support for the software. I will tell you that the lowrance units can be a little more complicated to use as there are more bells and whistles, but that also allows for more customization and manula control of the unit, giving a better picture of what is going on under the boat. " I was talking with a family friend who is also a lowrance rep and has been for 20 plus years, at the novi show. Most of the old customer service people have been fired for making things difficult. One the old head of the department i cant remember the ladys name is gone. She was the biggest problem after the takeover. they gave her time to come around then cleaned house. there is one person that is stll there and is now the head of customer service. things have changed. Navico the new owners are out to change that bad rep and have gone well above and beyond to help people out. At the time of the novi show Navico hired 30 more peoplr to work in the customer service area to help get people taken care of. The stuff you were reading about is pre Navico so take that into consideration when you are looking. I have a HDS5 with sirius. It is one from a year after the take over. They have worked out the bugs that were plagueing the old hds units. After One season on my boat i wouldn't use any other unit on the market.

Right on both accounts. Most of the spots are taken up by about 7 am from the people working on saturdays downtown. I had a 8 am class downtown near there at the eberhard center in the spring of 2009. there waas no parking after 7:30 in the metered areas.
-
I would also like to see some info on this.
-
Thats NUTS. No way would i do that.

this show doesn't do passes they set up the lot for the exhibitors and have the busses run. I have worked this show for the last eight years and it has never changed. If you use any of the lots they are owned by ellis or by fifth third and they charge by the day. there is parking underneath the building but that fills so quick that it isn't even worth it to try. It is also charged by the day. Grandvilliage inn has a very nice pool and hot tube area. also the wireless internet system in there is top of the line. I should know i built and installed all their new PCs and wireless devices. but that is a good rate where tony is staying. I think grandvillage is like 80 a night.
-
Let me find out. i should know on parking in a couple weeks. Usually the city sets up two of its lots for free parking then they have a bus running all the time of the show. Takes about 10 minutes round trip on the bus from the lots to the front doors. You can also look into grand village inn. they are in grandville. its about 10 minutes from downtown and a nice safe area with plenty of restaurants. I live right down the road and can show you around town a little when you get in. here is there contact info: Grand Village Inn 3425 Fairlane SW Grandville, MI 49418 Toll Free: (800)237-8737 Phone: (616)532-3222 Are you driving in or flying in?

does anybody use squids anymore
Line Dancin replied to tracker targa's topic in Salmon Pro's Connection
I use squids two different ways. 4 1/2" squids for lakes behind dodgers. 2 in glow squids under the flys to add extra glow. -
When i was in high school I worked at Eppingers in dearborn. Karen Eppinger was showing a customer around and he was asking about single hooks for his lodge in canada on a 5 of diamonds spoon. What she told him was the way a spoon is designed is the way it should stay if you change any part of the spoon including hook size it will affect the action of the spoon. If a lure has a split ring to tie to it is designed to use it if not then dont add one. I have stayed with this theory as she should know how the spoons are designed to work.

Where are you getting your super glow beads from?
-
I'd be interested in doing it again this year. I am going to carry a camera with me on the boat this year to get more and better pics of fish.
-
That suck but it is hard at this time of year. There are a ton of shows going on that those guys go to to be pro speakers. maybe next year. or after the show in gr? as most shows are done then?
