  4. I like the blue diamond roller rods. After trying all kinds of different tips with wire i like the one ken posted the best of all. I now have them on four blue diamond roller rods.
  5. Ken if you need someone to go i am unfortunatley laid off again. I have all the time in the world again.
  6. OHHH YEEAAAAHHHHH i forgot those.......
  7. WOW nice clean boat. I really liked my dads Thompson. I have been thinking of a new boat and am thinking of the new thompson that just came back on the market in 09. I am waiting right now as they are supposed to be bringing the 26 footer back out also from talking with them. I was thinking of chartering and it would be a great starter boat. http://thompsonboatsdirect.com/
  8. what kind of deal is he willing to give you on the two other riggers? If you look on the walker sticker on the side it says the model on there. Ask him for that and the year purchased and the call Niel at the walker service center and he can tell you if they are the faster new motor. (269) 673-7442 ASlo find out if they come with swivel bases and single or dual rod holders or single rod holder and no swivel bases. as they were sold both ways. You can buy the new tournament series for 350 at the shows and if they are the old motors to upgrade to the new motors is a bit of an expense with new switches at 20 and the motor at 125. Also you have to maching the spool for the new shaft as it is bigger. I had my cousin put mine on a bridgeport and bore the hole a little larger. Just some food for thought for ya.
  9. I dont like the quick edge type sharpeners. the carbide can really destroy a blard in a hurry if the metal has any kind of soft spot. It will gouge that area out in a hurry. also carbide kind of jumps as it is cutting and makes a uneven edge. I had a sharpener that i made when i worked at a carbide and ceramic cutting insert shop after high school. I mad it with ceramic cutting inserts and that thing was great only problem is ceramic chip when you have a sharp edge so it only last a few years and i was living down here when it was worn out.
  10. I agree with what is said here. If they are older walkers than hold off. the new electrics have a new motor in them that really kicks but up and down. They will also pull a 15 lb weight where the old motors struggle with a 12 lb. I personall like four riggers. I know the tourney guys like three because of the 9 rod rule. but i like the four riggers in the water. When they are the hot rods the fourth helps pile fish into the cooler. other thing i donr like is my cable so close to the outdrive. My friend tried the three and smoehow put a weight into his prop. Dont know how but that kind of made me think that four ft off the back isnt far enough from the outdrive. Inboard would be different as the prop is in the tunnel under the boat. But if that boat has an outdrive i wouldn't want a chute rigger.
  11. HDS units are the same way.
  12. Personally i would get the combo unit and use the money for the stand alone sonar for other equipment needed.
  13. Lowrance you can run multiple screen options as well as jut the fish finder or gps. I have had my gps scree with the sonar and a zoomed view of the sonar at one time while walleye fishing.
  14. Thanks Plugs i think i am going to take it in and have them throw it on a grinder
  15. Ken it is in his title line - Gatco I have also used one and they are a nice sharpener.
  16. They should castrate any one moving these fish like that.
  17. Nice ride cary.
  18. 30 ft for me also. IF you go to long mono can float up a little.
  19. Thanks for the info John i am going to start riggin them the same way.
  20. Thanks john i like that set up. I tried tying all different setups to see what i liked and didn't like. A friend of mine does a double snell and has one hook in the hook channel. I like your set up a little better though. What size bead is that a 4 or 6 mm.
  21. Are you using single or trebles? how are you tying them up and how are you rigging them on the bait as i see different ways to set up the hooks? HGuess i should have been more specefic on what i meant. I am tring to figure out the best hook set up.
  22. i just picked up 6 new moonsine plugs and a dodger to the tune of 56 bucks. I was also once a week going to walmart and picking up a package of planer releases for erie this coming year.
  23. I use my 10 inch knife more. Over the last two years i have had a buck 9 in that i really have started to like more.
  24. So i bought a bunch of these things up at Outdoorsman today. Looking at the packing they show several ways to rig them. What is the best way, that those of you using them, have found to use?
  25. So i was going through tackle boxes and found i had enough to fill another box seperating my lake trout stuff out of one box that i was sharing and into another box. This is after i removed a couple full grocery bags of baits out of all my other boxes. I also added two new rods. I had said to her when i put the boat up last fall i was cutting back. Well cutting back added another full box and two rods. She was watching me through this and said she needed to call that hoarders show on my as i buy tackle every time i go somewhere. I am sure i am not alone in this but she just doesnt understand. Hmmm kind of sound like what they say on that show .......... So my vow no more tackle till next season. after the grand rapids show that is
