  1. Dont spit into the wind either. Dont try to make the Badger move for you in the fog
  2. I agree for eyes that UV is the only way to go. Most of what i have been using the last couple years for eyes has been the uv painted spoons. Espically last year with the muddy water on Erie all season. As far as salmon i havn't used them quite as much for salmon. That may change this year. I have to buy more of the UV salmon sized spoons to try them.
  3. I like having more than just washers holding my rigger board. i would make backers the size of the piece of track out of 1/8 in aluminum and then bolt through that. As far as length of booms you may want 4 fters to get away from the outdrive.
  4. i've heard the same rumors floating around. I'll know in two weeks i am working the show.
  5. Matt talked to tunas a couple months ago about upgrading a couple of my older okumas. during the conversation we got onto which is the better reel he claims hands donw that the gears and inner workings are much better quality and finish than the okumas. He said he would take a shimano over a okuma any day including the top end okumas. So this is coming from a reel tech also not a driver. With tunas reputation i would tend to listen to what they say more than others. I am not saying the okumas are a bad reel. I have used and abused mine for years. but when you fish the two side by side there is a noticable difference.
  6. I completely agree with Jay on this. I have a few now and whenever i can i pick up another to retire an okuma. Last year i got two more this year the wife layed off so no big spending for me this winter. They are hands down the nicest reel i have ever used and eventually will be the only reels on my boat.
  7. or high Tekotas are what everyone elses reels are aspiring to be. That is why okuma keeps changing things in their reels to compete with the quality of a tekota.
  8. Thats what i am going to this year.
  9. I have leds on my trailer already. I LOVE them. they are so bright that the morons in the little cars that are to busy texting cant say they didnt see them now. If you dont have them on your trailer i highly recommend them.
  10. Nice job on the redesign. Jay will get a kick that his pic is on your site with that walleye.
  11. cool video
  12. I have off shore board and put flags on them. Then i order the 4 inch light sticks from Glow Works. I get the better quality ones not the cheap ones. Last time i got a bag of a hundred they were like 15 cents a piece. I then ziptie the glow stick to the flag arm going upright. This is the best thing i have found yet. They are really bright and you dont have to search for that little light when they are out a ways from the boat. Here is a link to the ones i have been buying. they have gone up some since the last time i bought them: http://gloworks.com/pdshop/shop/item.asp?itemid=1340
  13. for hummingbird you just have to figure out how to take what you learn in the videos and apply it to your hummingbird. They have most of the same settings, just maybe called something a little different. You are not going to get better info. I have been to a few so called electronics seminars that basically tell you buy this one it is better.
  14. I just sold my old rod holders and ordered 8 new ones for the sides of my boat. I have to redrill the bases and countersink the holes so i can use the existing holes in the boat from the old holders. Also ordering a planer mast for walleye fishing that i have to mount on the bow.
  15. Toms will NOT upgrade your reels anymore to the high speed gears i talked to them last week and was told "Just buy the ones on the site". I dont need more reels just the ones i have upgraded and they will not do it.
  16. I agree with it for salmon fishing. I was talking with someone this summer about the same thing.
  17. If you want Walleye Jerry does walleye charters through June out of Brest Bay Marina. I have my boat over there also for June at Brest bay.
  18. Try Jerry Lee on Sea Scerw. http://jerryleesportfishing.com/ I've known jerry for 35 years. He is a one of the greats. He is sometimes very difficult to get a charter with as people rebook from season to season with him. Can also try Rodmaster out of ludington. http://www.rodmasterfishing.com/index.html Also try Rascal here on the site and Tangled Mess out of holland if Jerry is booked. Both good guys. http://www.reelrascalcharters.com/ http://tangledmesscharters.com/default.aspx
  19. Also dont discount Squids. some days squids work better than spin n glos.
  20. I completely agree. It was my dads favorite way to laker fish. But somedays it will work better then riggers.
  21. you drop your cannon ball till it is just ticking on the bottom. You can also use a wire rod with a 1 1/2 lb ball and drop that back till it is just hitting the bottom also. Sometimes when the riggers aren't producing then it is time for the wire rod. the size i am using are 1 or 1 1/4 inch and the 5/8 for my double rigs.and the 1 1/2 by itself or the 1 1/2 and a 5/8 double. I use both the white and prism wings. When i get back in town monday i will try and get some pics of what i am using.
  22. I love the number 14 and 12s for steelies tipped with a little bit of skien spawn in the winter and early spring. Never tried them for walleye
  23. Here is how i run mine. the 1 inch i run by itself with four beads then the hook. the 3/4 and 5/8 i run the smaller one then i bead then the larger one and then four beads to the hook. I am not sure of the sizes though on the smaller if it is the 3/4 and 5/8 or the 5/8 and the half. I can check when i get home from work. then three times the length of the dodger is the leader length i use.
  24. I agree with Jans Netcraft i have spent many hours in there store. as well as shopping online.
