  1. One thing about running multiple divers to make them easier to deploy. Back off the drag and let them creep out so they are constantly pulling out and down and this will just about completely do away with any tangle problems.
  2. I totally agree. Outriggers saw there day before the inlines came out. They are still used on the ocean, but that is a whole different ball game.
  3. agree on the 30s. i use 8'6" and 10' okuma blue diamonds.
  4. I disagree sherman. I have been on boats that you can walk away from the wheel and on boats that you are constantly turning the wheel. My dads old boat would go a straight line without touching the steering wheel. My boat is the same way and using bags helps alot. I just hate burning the gas and dont use them that often.
  5. Your not kindding but the tangle at the end was the end of the adrenaline rush
  6. LOL yeah sure it is! for the guys not setting lines maybe. My relaxing fishing is a nice quiet trout stream with my 4 wt fly rod.
  7. Yeah i agree but i guess it was a good thing i needed a day to just rest and catch up.
  8. Ran north towards pt sheldon. Fished a short trip as we had to be in early for a family cookout. did an east west troll from 120 to 200 with 160 -190 being best.Ended with 9, 7 kings 1 coho and 1 steelhead. ran a 7 color a five color 225 coppers 2 wire divers 2 riggers and a 300 copper. Pulled the five color and put down a 150 copper as we had no hits on it. ran big white slick paddle and pickled sunshine fly biggest fish came on that. second largest fish came on a 7 color with a blue flounder pounder. 1 came on a black fin tuna 1on a uv green dolphine 2 on a blue dolpin uv 1 on a shelly snack.I dont remember the other sppins that took fish. at one time we had six fish on in ten minutes landing two and loosing four ending with a slight mess in 190ft.
  9. I still havent tried it yet. Thanks for the info i wont waste the money
  10. Cant compare a merc to a volvo though. It is like comparing apples to watermelons. They are completely different unlike merc and omc. volvo parts are 2 to 3 times more i have found out over the years. The coupling was 575 new boot was 63 four special bolts that needed to be replaced at 12 each and a water intake tube hat was 54 and all volvo only except the boot. even looking at prices on ebay i couldn't gotten them much cheaper he charged. Back to the O.P. i would do the trolling bags also.
  11. that was cheap it is a volvo system and only volvo parts no aftermarket. Most places wanted 1600 to do it.
  12. i take it that it is an I/O. does it vibrate going straight or just on turns. does it do it in neutral, just in gear or both? it probably wont spook fish but you could have an issue like what i just went through and spend 1200 bucks fixing the engine coupling to the outdrive.
  13. I mainly use my chamberlains for walleye and love them have not lost a fish walleye fishing and 6 inch perch set them off. What was some of the feed back you got i was thinking of leaving the chamberlains on for salmon also.
  14. Was talking with a guy at a tackle shop yesterday and he was saying the same thing. Sounds like they got thawed and refroze. My dad used to rig smelt for pike fishing with hooks and leaders. Put them in a ziplock and then freeze and rethaw and refreeze. this would make them soft and smelly. soft enough that if handled they would break apart in your hands. But man the pike loved them nasty things. what he was describing last night sounds like the same thing. the guy at the tackle shop said that the herring comes in a box ups and supposed to come overnight to keep them frozen. If ups screws up, the shops get thawed herring. I guess some of the shops refreeze which could casue what you are experiencing.
  15. Copper gets deeper quicker. for example a 10 color 300 ft gets to about 40 ft copper of that same length gets to about 70 - 80 ft.. The benefit is you dont have to reel in 20 colors to get that depth. Some also claim there is a harmonic hum to it like wire divers or riggers cables which attract fish. Dont know how true this is but it is what has been said. I do know tht my coppers typically outproduce my lead cores. But there are those few days that lead core just plain outfishes copper. It is just a touch harder to deploy and takes some getting used to, but when you do get the hang of it you wont regeret it. If you do go with it set the little knob under your reel handle ao just let it creep out at first and thumbe the spool as you let it out till you get used to handling it.
  16. 20 lb big game or ande (which ever is the better price when i buy it). I like the stretch i the big game and ande better than the xt and xl lines.
  17. what nailer said
  18. Gotta love our government
  19. Ed i just saw this. DId you get your boat in somewhere. If not Johnsons Supreme Marine does great work. What did you find out was wrong?
  20. You may want to look at huron or sandusky OH for charters. Not sure of the boats over there like stated above look up there charter boat association. i would also put your question on here: http://www.walleye.com theres a lot of captains on there from that area.
  21. Problem is paint falls off from just putting them in the water without a fish hitting them. I'll stick with others that catch fish and the paint isn't 3/4 gone by the end of a weekend. At 5 bucks a pop the paint should last at least a season. As far as not loosing paint the best ones are the cheapest from D&B tackle in st clair shores. http://dbfishing.com/walleye_spoons.htm at 2.35 each you cant beat them and i have caught some hogs on them or Jimmys prototype jpslammer walleye minis.
  22. I agree
