My dad had one (well three or four) when he had his boats. I bought bags and never considered using one of those PITA happy trollers. The bags work great and there is no forgetting to put the plate up and bending them or cracking the cavitation plate. Cost my dad a pretty penny on that mistake.

They have them on the website and ship to the store with no shipping. They actually have quite bit of stuff online that you would never see in their stores.

I am looking at getting four new reels for my riggers. Walmart has convectors for 71 and cold waters for 79 I have about 26 convectors. Whats your thoughts on the coldwaters? Would I be better off with the coldwaters over the convectors for 8 bucks more piece.

Nice job Ed were you on your lake?

when i take the boat over to erie we slip it. The whole season rate where i am at is only 450 for the season. when i am back here i trailer i would like to slip but the cost is a little high for me and the marinas dont offer a month deal. It is whole season or the same rate per night for a month at yact basin or eldeans. I like to fish monroe for may and june so i would be paying for almost half a season that i wouldnt use the dock.

I have four when the long lines are doing better I run two or three riggers. When the bite changes I get all four down. One weekend this past summer when everyone was complaining about no fish we came in with 14 one day and 11 the next. just ran four riggers and four divers with most of the fish coming on the riggers. I say put em on and if you need them then you have them available.

I'd like to say thanks to frank for taking time out of his day to meet up with my dad and I in augres and help us find marinas and camgrounds for next years walleye season. It was nice metting face to face and i really appreciate the time you took out of your day to show us around the area. :thumb:

No prob! Mine started out as wishing for the big jon motors and not liking the price of 500 + bucks for just the motors. I had the walker motors on the shelf from a downrigger upgrade and ordered the wheels and switches just to try it out. figured if I put fifty bucks in it and it didn't work I wasn't out much. I had the mast from the previous year that I paid like 75 bucks for it and was using manual big jon reels. I have about 125 invested into the whole deal. I now have two seasons on them and they have been out in all kinds of weather and going strong. No problem with the motors being out in the elements. I used two wire plugs like used for trailer wiring so I can remove the mast they were like 2 bucks a set at tractor supply. I use mine quite a bit in may and june walleye fishing and have thought about ordering a spare motor just in case one does go out.

30 amp reverse polarity switches are what you need. also 30 amp inline fuses. I drilled two holes in my dash and added these switches: http://www.amazon.com/Position-Reverse-Polarity-Control--Maintained/dp/B001PNHBW6/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1380594922&sr=1-1&keywords=30+Amp+Toggle+Switch+3+Position+Polarity+Reversing+DC+Motor+Control+on+off+on I called gama and orderd through them and not amazon and I had them in a couple days and it was cheaper than ordering from amazon: http://www.gamainc.com/ here is what I built using the walker motors: I now have a couple seasons on them and love the system.

Well boat is all done winterized all the gear out away in the basement and the winter storage canvas on and in winter storage tomorrow out come the hunting gear. Even though it was a slower season and didn't spend as much time fishing we still had a fun year. Thanks to everyone on here for another great season. Next year we are going to have a little change and try Saginaw bay instead of erie.

Must have been walleye Friday as I did the same exact thing. I like to make the drakes batter thinner than the instructions. Nothing better than walleye. Frank can you send me your number I am thinking of moving my boat from erie up to the bay for this coming season (may and june) and have some questions on the area. Campgrounds marinas storage stuff like that.

for wire convector 30 work fine spool each with 1000 ft of 30 lb wire. Rods I like the blue diamond roller rods in 10 ft for the stiffness to get around my side riggers. If you have 10 colors of lead I would set up 225 copper and 300 coppers. 225 on 45 convector with 300 yds of 50 lb power pro with a piece of 30 ft of 30 lb mono between the pp and the copper the 300 on a 55 convector and 300 yds 50 lb pp and again the 30 ft piece of mono between the pp and copper

Well I decided to take the boat in for winterizing Saturday. next week heading north to get the stands ready for bow season. Wasn't the most productive season this year with the screwy weather at times and taking a few weeks away with having my daughter this summer. Thanks everyone for another great season.

Gonna have to try that sounds like a good idea.

YEP just wrap it around and into the flasher file. Just about every spin doctor or paddle I have has a fly attached.
