  1. im liking the bird on the rod...one of our first tourneys last year it was bad foggy and we picked up one of those buggers..completely drenched and walking all over anyone and everything..spent the whole trip with us then flew off when we passed the c.g station..one of our better trips as far as results..therefore they are always welcome:)
  2. You can go right to the spool no backer needed
  3. I would use the cv30lc convector and 1000' of wire. Blood run tackle offers the wire at a great price. http://www.coppertrollingwire.com/?cat=14
  4. i have always used a dry brine.. 4 cups brown sugar 1 cup kosher salt 8 garlic cloves the only problem ive had is with filet thickness you almost need to seperate into different bowls according to thickness as the smaller are either sweet or salty compared to the larger..i also use apple chips(wood.not an actual apple:)) in the smoker
  5. walkers dont have rings..to me thats one of the benefits
  6. I'm gonna have to call you all three buddy. Nice job ken
  7. tony (eyefull)will probably have a good answer on the rod..i use a 8ft 6 talora med heavy with med/fast action
  8. i need to type faster..by time i posted 3 others posted saying the same thing:eek:
  9. the reason for the power pro backer is to get more line on the spool then the mono between the copper and pp gives the rig some stretch
  10. only 2 copper setups..im starting to tear up just thinking about it..you need a bunch of copper:)i would go with a 300 and 450
  11. the way you are explaining it you would have trouble reeling it in as you would run out of reel capacity and have to hand line the fish..if im reading it right..some people run segmented copper and core.example...2 color then 30 ft of mono then 3 more colors..essentialy having a 2 and 5 color on the same rod..ive heard bad things about leaving core or copper at the rod tip so i dont do it myself..you may want to get a hold of the folks at blood run tackle also..these guys know copper like no other and would be glad to answer questions as to wether segmenting copper is a way to go. http://www.coppertrollingwire.com/?page_id=3
  12. power pro here also..make sure you tape youre reel spindle first though
  13. Don't forget about the craigslist killer
  14. i have the cannon mag 5hs...they are very fast on descend and retrieve(12lb).have had zero issues whatsoever with them..they are also quite reasonably priced
  15. it has preloaded cartography and its 10 times better than what i had..but they have 3 upgrades for it..navioncs gold, platinum and fish n chip..the ladder used to be free but is now a stand alone and retails for roughly 179..so i will be sticking with what it came with:(
  16. guess i could have put that...i had been researching it so much that in my mind everyone knew what it was...i wish it was an auto pilot:)
  17. I wish I was installing it.The boats in COLD storage. The really cool thing is I can hook a raymarine auto pilot to it hmmmmm
  18. i usually run just enough beads to get the trail hook to the back of the skirt but dont let it stick more than an 1/8 past the skirt..just my opinion
  19. the only reason there was one for me is i dont have to pay for it till next year:)
  20. http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/1/1/4/4/new_gps.jpg' alt='new_gps.jpg'>
  21. I put the high speed gears and the wide mouth line guides in my 55s. Huge speed difference
  22. he told me too...but i didnt advertise it all over the internet:)cus he didnt want everyone to know..i think
  23. all im seeing is that nearly flat lake in every pic...hardly remember what that looks like after this year
  24. looks good ken..hope you guys have a great year:thumb:
  25. as far as running copper it is very dependant on the speed you run..i look at it kinda like swinging a chain in a circle..the slower you spin it the lower it swings
