  1. i took this from the michigan charter boat association website..i imagine if its good enough for them its good enough for us..but again this isnt something you have to do..you can have the coast gaurd inspect it if you want..we are just trying to help guys out here.. Finally, everyone needs to remember you must have a valid USCG license, be in a USCG approved drug program, have a valid TWIC card, and operate a charterboat with a current MDNR inspection decal to be a legal Michigan charter boat. If you see a vessel operating without a decal, taking passenger for hire; or know of a person taking passengers for hire who does not meet ALL the requirements, call the DNR RAP line and file a report. Illegal charters hurt our industry and hurt us all. Have a good winter, and be safe next season.

  3. i would like to thank jon(7mary3)for setting this up
  4. Dnr officer Greg Patten has offered to come to the may 21st event and give free boat safety inspections. What it entails is us getting together as a group and making our boats available for a safety inspection. He will go through a checklist of required equipment that you need for your size of boat and inspect that equipment to ensure that it is in working order. In turn you will get a 2011 DNR inspection sticker showing that you have been checked that you can put on your boat. This will not ensure that you will not be boarded again but it tells the person pulling you over for a routine inspection that you already one done.It isnt a requirment to make youre boat available just a complimentory service if youd like it.
  5. i use the size8 spro swivel..it is a 50# rating..there are no issues with going thru the line guide..put the copper thru the swivel and haywire twist it about 1 and a half inches back and shrink wrap..knock on wood i have never had this fail..the albright knot is just fine if thats what you want to use..i like the extra benefits of having the swivel at both ends of the copper for line twist reduction..
  6. I just wrap a piece of white electrical tape on the rod above the reel and write on the tape with a sharpie

  15. I had a sub troll last year and bought a x4 this year. Moore worked fine. Problems...hard to read at night, had to stay on the rigger, had to use coated cable and quite a bit of blowback. Benefits in my mind were the analog display and it was very reliable and accurate. What I like about the x4 although I haven't ran it yet. Nice large bright display,I can take it off of rigger for storage and put it on any rigger I want. No coated cable. Smaller probe that I hope has less blowback. Shows boat speed as well as lure speed. The only thing I don't like so far is having to mount a transducer for it and the price. Either way you go you are gonna have a good reliable quality unit

  17. I have the talora rods and love them. Never had any issues. In saying that though I bought them from a friend at a very good price and don't know if I would spend that kind of coin on them from the store though I think they're worth it
