  1. Jim, I got mine from Alfs Tackle. Here is one through his ebay listing. It's for a 8'6" rod. 35.95 +9.95 sh I just looked at my account and this is actually Tackle Haven. I bought 2 of these rods in July for $80 and change.
  2. Another vote for the Okuma copper rod.
  3. Wow! I wasn't even close. Are those for #45 or #30 copper? I've hit bottom in 80 fow with my #45, so I figured half of that would be 40ft. Then take another 50 ft off and bring it 10ft or so. I didn't think it would bring it up to 20 ft but ok. Thanks for the info.
  4. I picked up a couple used ones that I plan on trying this spring. They are sturdy brackets and lock in the down and up positions. Other than that, I got nothing for you. I can give you a shout when they are finally used.
  5. I'm sitting here trying to figure out what I can spool on my new to me CT 30, and got to thinking maybe a short copper. I'm thinking 100ft. I looked at all the charts I could find on copper depths and came up with an average depth between 30-40 ft. What do you think? I know some of you run sections of copper and was wondering if you could narrow the window down some. My troll is usually 1.75- 2.0 mph. If you have a killer setup for short coppers, that you are willing to share, I'd be interested in that too. Hang in there, spring is right around the corner. We get more daylight everyday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I love my convector's, but if money is short, upgrade the drags. My wire rods have Cabelas depthmaster on them. I've updated the drags with Tunas drags and now they are just as smooth as my convectors. They've made a world of difference on my magda's too. Just my 2 cents.
  7. Tuna's out of gear upgrades at this time- according to the website. But I would agree about the cv 55's.
  8. What they said! Hot for me last couple years.
  9. Thanks Don. Sounds easy to do. I appreciate the info.
  10. Joel, When you talk about the twist and spro connection are you just feeding the line through swivel then twisting it, or is there another knot that I'm missing?
  11. Does anyone have a good set of instructions on how to tie this knot? I've seen couple videos but the knot isn't clear because they tie it too far from the camera. I'm tired of having a huge albright to pull through my guides. Is the swivel an issue or does it go right on through? I had the same issue that Nailer had, losing a whole setup. Don't want that to happen again.
  12. I have a new Cannon rod holder up for sale. The box is open, but it is still sealed in the plastic and all papers are included. It is the rail mount model. This will fit a round or square rail 3/4" to 1 1/4 ". It is also a ratcheting holder, allowing you pull the holder straight up to remove the rod. It is 10" and has 6 locking positions. Looking for $85. Also have an old piece of Bert's Track. It's heavier than the new stuff. It's a 12in piece, never mounted but has a couple of marks from a rod holder being tightened down in it. Looking for $15. Also have a Bert's C-clamp Mounting Base. It has an egg base to fit into the track. This a used piece but no markings that I can see. Looking for $20. Lastly, I have a Bert's Universal Electronics Mounting Bracket. It is has the egg shaped based so it can be used in the track systems. Item number MF3275 - bright stainless color. Looking for $25 Let me know if you are interested. I'll use shipper of your choice, you pay actual shipping cost, or maybe we can set up a meet. Currently in IL, wont be in MI till March.
  13. Another vote for Tuna's They'll take care of you.
  14. Thanks Tony. I'll send you a P.M. when I've got the time to put them on. How long do you think it will take to complete them?
  15. Has anyone done this? I have a few of my leadcore rods that like to spin in the rod holders when the boards are bouncing in the waves. I was thinking of trying this to prevent my reels hanging upside down. It's silly, I know, but it bugs me. Any advice? Will it work? Potential issues?
  16. Replace the drags- tunasreeltroubles.com You might have to call them, I can't remember if they are listed on the site yet.
  17. Fireline
  18. Thanks guys. Still interested in other thought if you've got them. Jim(1Mainiac), what/where is the 9's? Adam, I have run dipsies a couple time but without success. Most of the people I have talked to about this have said that the flat lines were the best options. I haven't got deep enough to run my coppers, I only have 300ft, no short sections. Well, three springs and nothing in the boat. Thanks for the ideas.
  19. I know my spring fishing experiences are very limited and I really struggle. I usually get my boat in the last week of April/ first week of May. The shakedown down cruise has been a success in that the boat dosen't sink and we make it home with no issues. Is it because Grand Haven just dosen't have the fish at that time of the year or do I just need a better plan? I run a two-man setup of 4 short cores off inline boards and to riggers. I've run everything from cranks, sticks, flies, spoons, and j-plugs. I've run the riggers high, low, long and short with no takers. I usually start shallow and work deeper tring dirty and clean water. I'm at a lost and looking for somemore insight. What do you guy's run as your spring setups?
  20. OH NOOOOO! Video no longer available- bummer needed to scratch an itch.
  21. I've used mine for the last 3 years. I was not impressed with the drags. I used mine for my wire dipsy rods and they would always leak, and that was at max drag. Switched the drags before last season with Tuna's tournament drags and they worked awesome. The clickers are a little weak but usable. I switched the plastic clicker spring with a metal one out of a CV45, and it's really loud now. I think because the Cabelas are plactic body reels and the Okumas are graphite, the sound it produces is much different. $8.00 for the drag and $1.00 for the clicker spring and this reel is one you'll catch many fish on. I know mine is well worth the $$$ spent. As previously mentioned, you do need to maintain them. Good luck, and enjoy the new toys!
  22. Yeah I got those too, best price is on the website right now not their Ebay listing.
  23. Thanks for the heads up Jim. Just got my stuff today from Tuna, planning on working on them next week. Can't say enough good things about Tom and Paul, always have great products and service. Replaced all my drags on my MA 30's last year and they are awesome. This year it's the 45's turn. Come on spring!!!! but not until I can get my drags fixed P.S. I think prices are going up after the first of the year
  24. The best way to make sure you get at least one present you really want..... go out and buy it yourself. It's fun playing Santa! Enjoy the new toys!! Come on Spring !!!!!!!
  25. I was just watching a video that showed guys fishing multiple boards on both sides of the boat. When a fish hit, they were passing the rod under two other rods before reeling. It got me thinking. I run my closest board in the rod holder that is closest to the stern of the boat and have an increase in the angle for each rod as it moves toward the bow of the boat. Am I doing this right or wrong or is this a personal preference thing? It seems like it's a little silly to pass rods under other ones while fighting a fish. The likelihood of losing equipment has to increase 10 fold. How do you place your rods in that situation?
